and it's going to stay that way for a while... southbound interstate 71 will be shut down at dana avenue most of the morning commute due to a fatal crash early wednesday, cincinnati police officials said. the highway is closed "until at least 8 a.m.," said lt. tim brown, the night chief. motorists are advised to detour around the area by using i-275 or the ronald reagan cross county highway to southbound i-75 or westbound i-74. the highway shut down shortly after 3 a.m. a van driven by a female motorist headed the wrong way in the southbound lanes and slammed into a southbound, two-door car, "instantly" killing the male driver, brown said. the male driver was alone inside his car. his name and age were not immediately available. it's not clear how the female driver wound up going the wrong way in the southbound lanes, brown said. police interviewed her at the scene, he said. cincinnati police's traffic unit is investigating.
