police involved shootings what are officers trained to do gene- officers are trained to stop the threat that is presenting danger to themselves and/or other people so we are talking about stopping people. tricia- and they have to obey the commands gene- well if they obey the commands there is nothing to stop and that's the thing that is frustrating to us in law enforcement if people were simply to follow the directives there would be nothing because the officer would not feel a threat. tricia- and gene when is the officer trained to pull the trigger how many shots and where on their body gene- well first thing the officers are trained and a lot of that training comes from the supreme court rulings there is 2 cases grahmn and gardner where the supreme court has decided the rules of engagement for police officers when they can appropriately use deadly force in essence it is whenever they reasonable believe their life or the life of someone else in danger at that time the officer can employ deadly force to stop the threat the serious imminent threat of physical harm or
