madison junior senior high school on west alexandria road in madison township, here in butler county. here very latest information right now complete with aerial footage from this afternoon. four students are hurt. police say two of them were shot. the other two were injured in some other way possibly from sharmnal. all of the injuries are non life threatening they say the shooter is 14 year old james hancock. who was in custody. and the district is closed tomorrow. now the top of the show we did speak economics clues live o butler county sheriff richard jones he told us that the shooter brought the gun to school. he said that in the lunch room they -- they were round tables he was sitting there one of the tables, all of sudden he got up, and he ran and opened fire at the other table of and shot two people. let's get right to fox 19 megan who is live at spring hill

where prayer service underway. megan? >> trish yes the church opened its doors for parishioner and actually win this the monday about half an hour ago at 6:00. you can see right here. people are gathering. senior pastor here was here. he told me was so important because he said they have about 20 madison students that attend this church. but again, he says this is entire community that's grieving and healing tonight.

also, how many shots were fired. >> >> well at this school, we have a school resource officer. that was in the cafeteria. where this shooting took place. minutes before the shooting took place. he left, the cafeteria. heard the shots fired. returned to the cafeteria. at that point, the shooter, which is james hancock. ran out of the building.

juvenile counts but he said that could change tomorrow when the teen faces a judge for the very first time. >> reporting live tonight. in middletown. fox 19 now. >> thank you. and, the sheriff department did just con firm to me the attacks that we can positively identify 14 year old james hancock with his photo we are work on getting that together for you. we will bring you. now, let's get over to scene far the school. it has been frightening day over there. fox 19 is is there live. mike could you spoke with a lot of witnesses today. >> i spoke lot of people today. i want take you back to your eight grade school year. it is beautiful monday morning. you are sitting in your cafeteria. waiting to have lunch. all of sudden you hear gun shots. well that's exactly happened -- what happeneded to students at this school today. we actually found 18 grader who witnessed one of her class mates will being shot. take a listen. >> we are hearing like couple

i didn't really know it was gun shot until lining i look over and kid was like grabbing his leg and falling over. and, the kid that was shooting, ran out of door. and then every -- all of teachers were like, go, that way. towards the marching bands fields and we had to stay out there for a little bit. >> calf dwraer to left? so all of sudden i hear bang i thought it was someone dropped tray or something.

i am like what's going on? >> we have not heard from our abut did were told earlier, that school astraight tore will be meeting tonight to discuss a plan on how to move forward not only for tomorrow. but in the fuel ture. it is probably safe to say there will be some counseling, available for any students who is traumatized by the events today. here in madison on toship. mike. we were thesed there would be counsel loerz on hands. also, you know you spoke earlier today with not only that student but one other student who was in third grade. i don't know if you remember this offhand her name was bree she said that she was in lockdown for what seemed like very long time. she heard gun shot. she was scared. so we can only imagine what these kids are going through. they are going to need some counseling. >> they are. and bre and bree had say was rather calming note she said, you scared. her friends were crying.

lines just to get down the school we showed you video earlier what we didn't show you were some parents walking with their arms around their children. you know consoling them holding them not knowing what to expect. and of course we talked lot of parents earlier today their whole mind set was four children shot inside of school not knowing if one them was theres. take a listen. >> found about through a phone call from the school. they got hold of us pretty quickly. of course everybody just concerned about their children. so i mean it was pretty crazy. you know, thinking about feeling about you know. but how long did you have to wait? how quickly go get here? i got here within about five minutes. did you have to wait? did they allow -- because it was still lockdown you had wait am in we wait a little bit for lockdown. but it was only about 45 minutes. and once we got over there i think they handle willed really well. one we got over there, it was all pretty organized.

and signed them out. released them. >> talk about that 45-minute wait for you not knowing what was going on with the -- what condition of your child was >> yes. it was pretty hectic. i mean, not knowing what we heard there was three children injured. and not exactly knowing which children were injured. i mean there always that doubt that is it your child over there? i mean it is -- i mean how you describe it? it is pretty bad >> he is no able to explain it. but i am not sure you know what happened because i know all elementary kids were out in -- they were out recess. when it happened. they said they scattered. but they apparently got a hold of them pretty quickly. >> talk about that you said he you an at thises particular. the concern that and added to just chaos particular moment this morning. >> yes that was very bad. because, once we heard that you kids scattered. he needs someone him if he scatters someone he may not return. that was very bad we are not

he was calm if he was agitated what deal was. we toe got up he ran over to another table that also was around the table that eight people sitting there. and he shot two people. two people injured one person shot two times. one person shot one time. two other people, injured. from sharmnal or some other type of debris. following that shooting. we tell you about the victims,

will not have undergoing any surgeries. we also told that all of the kids at this school, will be able to be talking to counselors. and they are going cancel school tomorrow. we will be right back with more.

he took off from the school. as soon as he shot them. he took off running. and we were told there is school resource officer that took off after him. apprehend him and at will so point through the gun he was able to be arrested and now he is facing what slew of charges. he -- charge two counts attempted murder. two counts of felony assault. induce panic making terror threats he has been interviewed. he,waiting prosecutor's office take the next step. >> you been great deal of help? >> okay. let's talking about what happened now at the school they have had plan in action. and it was very calm controlled chaotic seen i know if your parents of the kids that were involved this is still hairy situation. how important for schools have to plan? >> well obviously, plan is paramount. because if you don't know what

happens, then you just have to kind of react. -- you know what i will do. by having plan not only have a plan but actually practicing and having the drills i think it reason enforces to everybody what they are supposed to be doing. but i think also gives you some calming because you know what you are going to do. when starts to happen you just go into that mode that you have been trained to do. that's important. the other thing that i want to make a points here is that all of those plans throughout this

we don't know how he got the gun. but we do know that the parents his parents have to be just going through range of emotions here as well. >> yes. obviously, not at the same level as someone who child as actually shot. >> yes. >>, but i don't know how far behind is that it is if you can only imagine that your told that your 14 year old child just shot people. and, if he is charged as an adult, and if he found guilty of those charges, he is talking about a lot of years in the jail. after he gets through juvenile and then he will go into juvenile system but then he could at the time turns to be adult could be sent over for more years that's good traumatic tore them, too. >> okay parents or grandparents at home school ray stata troer. you don't have a plan or i mean even my case i have five kids. i don't know they have plan. i never heard. what advice would you give to everybody out there, on the importance of getting something together. well, >> where do you start? >> we.

have kids i got grandkids in school. you need to check with your school authorities, do they have a plan. now, just do you have one. and then, ask for copies of it. i want to know what my child is being told to do and i want to reinforce that with my child at home. that they need to pay attention to the teachers and pay attention to school people. and if there is a place officer on the scene, what are they expected to do? so that you can encourage them and empower them. that you have things you are supposed to be doing. and then, after this one, praise them for having done what they were supposed to be doing. praise your kid and be you know praise the lord that they are all okay. and, make sure they have a phone. your kids. i mean, your sitting out there thinking should i get my kids phone maybe now is good time. well we are all kind of become reliants on that. we expect to be able to get in touch with our kids like right now >> thank you. it was my pleasure. appreciate in.

morning at madison junior senior high school opening fire. four people in the hospital 14 year old brant murray 14 year old katherine doucette. 15 year old cameron smith and 14 year old cooper caffrey. all injured in stable condition. we spoke just short time ago to butler county sheriff richard jones on the situation that happened this morning there. >> i had deputies responding to their kids were at the school. there in school resource officer think about having an officer in school. he knows many the parents deputies work in that area. when they are coming they have get to give information out. want know if their child -- sword scenario you think can happen anywhere other than here.
