kentucky maybe small in population but it's no stranger to controversy when it comes to its administration. over the weekend councilwoman lisa cavanaugh was arrested on drug and assault charges. fox 19 now's frankie jupiter has been following the story and caught up with the mayor -- i'm interested in his reaction to all this. the doors are locked after tonights finance commitee meeting with council, and back to work a council woman just release from jail. councilwoman lisa cavanaugh is back on the job after

from jail today. tonight she attended a finance commit meeting with city council. i tried to speak to her earlier today about her charges. "i have no comment this is a personal issue and a personal problem and everyone has personal issues. unfortunately being on council, mine is public knowledge. but i have no comment" police say they were called to cavanaugh's home on a domestic violence call over the weekend. she's charged with fourth degree assault, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. her husband john cavanaugh was also charged with fourth degree assault. we tried again to talk councilwoman cavanaugh when she arrived at the meeting. but she declined again saying that her arrest was a personal matter. "i'm sure you have a job. just because you're a reporter does your personal problems get aired all over" "if i was arrested on drug charges absolutely." "ok i understand that" the cold spring administration is no stranger to controversy. last year the city found its self at some points without a city manager, city administrative officer, city attorney and police chief. "does it concern at

appear in court tomorrow... but the fbi has asked tomorrow's hearing to be cancelled in light of new information. there has been some movement in the case of a cincinnati man locked up in north korea. some are starting a movement to set him free but will it work. our michael baldwin has been looking into the case. michael what did you find? well its unlikely that the leader of north korea is going to listen but there is a petetion to free otto warmbier. whether it will work or not is anyone's guess but 15 years of hard labor won't be easy. as president obama is in cuba, there are those that hope he eventaully turns his attention to otto warmbeir. he's the cincinnait native who was in north korea and convicted of committing hostile acts against the state. you're looking at the video. the acts include stealing propaganda signs at the hotel he was staying at. probably a misdemeanor out here subject to a fine but there--the

cell phone video captured the aftermath. one man was killed after some sort of fight. detectives do have one man in custody. this was the scene... after a two year old accidentally shot himself in the stomach. police say he boy was visiting georgia with his family ... when he got the gun out of his mother's purse. doctors performed surgery on the boy who is now listed in stable condition. lt. mark lavigne/ dekalb county police department "the mother is at the hospital, we're interviewing her. a second individual that was in the room, we're interviewing, at the scene, here. we will be impounding that car. we have secured a search warrant for the room." so far no charges have been filed. attorney general mike dewine has rejected yet another petition for marijuana in the buckeye state... the latest proposal would legalize marijuana for medical and industrial use in ohio... the one-thousand required signatures.. checked out... but dewine says the summary language to change the state constitution has some wording issues that need to be fixed.

"what about the credit rating? i got a default letter here--are you guys going to send this immediately to the credit agency?" weldon: "to answer your question, specifically, no. we will not report you to a credit reporting agency." even though lawrenceburg dentist, dr. peter zaharakos' $100,000 was supposed to be paid off three years ago--the city hasn't told the credit bureaus. but--last friday--the city did send him a default notice--giving him 60 days to pay his loan off. he's never missed a payment. zaharakos is one of about 10 borrowers the city's now trying to collect overdue loans from. the city lent $16 million in the past decade--only two loans have been paid off. "i don't think this is going to come to a surprise to anybody, but the city entered into a line of business they really didn't have much expertise in."

"the ball was dropped." the city sent 30 day default notices to steve linkmeyer--who owes the city $3 million. the city also sent greg davis a 30 day notice--davis owes nearly $2 million--most of it spent on renovating this corner of high street. if linkmeyer and davis fail to pay their loans off within the next two weeks--the city says it'll foreclose. not part of the plan--the city says--is any forgiving any of the outstanding balances--the city wants every penny owed.
