thanks for watching >> live, local, breaking news. this is wyff news 4 today in high definition. allyson: happening now, iranian foggy morning. far short warnings are in effect or the area. more rain expected throughout the day. what you can expect for your morning commute. >> people across the nation begin cleanup after this same system brought 200 mile-per-hour wind to texas. allyson: several power outages to show -- to report in the area. 3020 customers without power in buncombe county. 64 customers without power in anderson and 80 in greenville. good morning, i'm aly myles. nigel:mike: and imac mccormick. dale: it came down hard overnight.

4:31, still getting a few scattered showers in the area, but the bulk of the rain from last night is coming to an end. we get a chance to get a break from it late morning into the afternoon. you can see a good bit of rain in the charlotte area, eastern part of the upstate, still coming down good. the western part of the upstate and the nuns of north carolina are getting clear. southern buncombe county under a flash flood warning. a few flood advisories in transylvania. flood watches that continue for the upstate and northeastern georgia, western carolina. until thursday morning, then the rain is over. there's afternoon, friday, saturday, sunday, cooler, drier weather comes in. this is the first event. we will see that come to an end later this morning. another event expected down in the gulf to hit as early tomorrow morning through the day on wednesday. another round of heavy rain.

temperatures, look how mild they are. 68 in greenville, 62 in asheville. we will see temperatures hit 70 in the upstate. in the mountains, it will climb into the upper 60's were the afternoon. it will be a breezy day out of a southwest, 10-15 plus for the upstate, breezy and spots in the mountains. we will talk more about cooler, drier weather this weekend in the next report. mike: we want to give you a live look of the woodruff road skycam. it is hard to see out there with all of the rain coming down. allyson: a kaleidoscope in n r camera this one. mike: hard to drive this morning. lots of windshield wiper action. allyson: the national weather service will be near the charlotte area this morning after a confirmed tornado. mike: this picture was taken in union county north carolina. , crews will determine the size and strength of that tornado today. people across the nation are cleaning up after this same system swept through areas like this in texas, 11 people were

-- hurt when multiple tornadoes hit north texas over the weekend police confirmed at least eight people died and 15 more were injured in a twister that hit garland. the national weather service says the ef4 tornado brought over 200 mile-per-hour winds and destroyed more than 600 structures. in the dallas area, the national weather service says more than 1600 structures were damaged by at least nine tornadoes. allyson: at least six people are dead due to high flood waters in mid-missouri. firefighters rescued residents by boat monday. in pulaski county police confirm those six people died when their vehicles were swept away by the rushing flood waters. missouri governor jay nixon declared a state of emergency after officials closed about 400 roads statewide. mike: the rain in our area caused more problems for guyton road east of i-85 in anderson county. for people living there it's the third issue in just 3 months. you can see the latest damage in

the first time a sinkhole opened up in late october. last week a water main break. and now people living there say the road completely collapsed on christmas morning. the anderson county roads and bridges manager says the issues have stemmed from excessive rain. he estimates a fix will cost more than $230,000 and still needs fema approval. he says the repairs would take a year and a half. allyson: all the rain we've had is causing more and more destructive potholes. a big one here on anderson mill road in spartanburg county. a man who lives nearby says the department of transportation patched it, but it rained again, so the hole re-opened. employees at bolton james wheel alignment in spartanburg worked on three cars with pothole damage yesterday. usually they get two a week. >> it has either bent the wheel, it's cracked the wheel. generally when you see a wheel , that's bent or cracked it has thrown the car out of alignment as well. the alignment is very detrimental to your tire wear. allyson: you can report a pothole on d.o.t.'s website. mike: to spartanburg county now,

investigation into the death of a man found behind a restaurant. police now say they believe it was a case of hit and run. that's according to the cowpens town administrator. the coroner identified the victim as brent tessnear. 36-years-old. he was found unresponsive sunday behind the hardee's in cowpens. tesnear died at the hospital. if you know anything about this, call crimestoppers at 1-888-crime-sc. an update on a death investigation in greenville county. the coroner identified a man who died in the sans souci area. the coroner says nathan crouch died from a gun shot to the chest during an argument. he ruled crounch's death a homicide. deputies say his body was found sunday night in a home on perry road. anyone with more informati should call crime stoppers at 23-crime. allyson: we're learning more about conditions inside a north carolina home, where a father found his 6-month-old dead on christmas eve. first the background. lincoln county deputies charged stephanie amber tillman with

she was treated at the scene for unrelated injuries from two days earlier. the medical examiner still has not released the baby's cause of death. as for what it looked like inside that home in lincoln county, investigators s ed the word horrific. the home is in dallas just north of gastonia. they say it was strewn with human and animal waste and garbage. dss took custody of two other children also found inside the home. they are 3 and 4-years-old. mike: friends and family members celebrated a young girl who would have turned one yesterday. as you may remember 11-month old addie grace died earlier this month. addie had krabbe disease. which affects the nervous system and all body movement. her parents were huge clemson fans and dreamed of taking their little girl to a game someday. the clemson tiger, pep band and cheerleaders came to them in october to give the family support. >> she is in heaven now. she is doing so much better now. she is healed, she can see.

confetti toss. period mike: the teen known for his affluenza defense in court has been arrested in mexico after weeks on the run. mexican police arrested ethan couch and his mother sunday outside of a popular resort. couch made national news in 2013 after being sentenced to probation for a drunk driving crash that killed four people. his attorneys claimed he suffered from affluenza a condition that stems from having wealthy, privileged parents who never set limits. allyson: no criminal charges will be filed in the 2014 police killing of 12-year-old boy tamir rice in cleveland. an officer shot and killed rice outside a rec center last year as the boy apparently y ached for a toy weapon. investigators now believe tamir was going to hand over the toy, or show that it was fake. a grand jury spent two months listening to testimony and viewing evidence. the announcined monday that thth officer's deadly mistake is not criminal under law. mike: iraq is claiming a major

dale: good morning, it is 4:47. it has been a rainy, stormy night. starting to improve as we look out from our hilton greenville skycam. activity is on the roads. most of the rain is east of 26 and working its way through charlotte into north cacalina. we will get a few lingering showers and a couple of spots this morning. we are seeing flood warnings in asheville.

comes to an end. this is round one. we have another round of showers coming through wednesday through wednesday night. that is why all of the counties are shaded in green. we are still under flood watches all the way through the early thursday morning with the potential of another big round of rain tonight. starting about 4:00, 5:00 tomorrow morning. here is the latest line of showers and thunderstorms continuing to make its way to the north and east through the area. we have wind starting to pick up out of the southwest at 10-20 plus. it is going to be a breezy, one day again today. temperatures are already in the 60's and part of the mountains. cooler in boone and rutherfordton with cool air blowing in a for the upstate, western north carolina, feeling like spring. 10-20 mile per hour winds out of the southwest in the upstate forecast for today. this is not normal. normal at this time of the year if all of the weather patterns are doing what they supposed to do is cold in the morning and low 50's for highs.

68 is the expected high today. looking ahead with the four-day plus forecast tomorrow, a couple of degrees cooler. rain expected a good bit of the day. by thursday morning, a trails off. thursday afternoon, we get drier, cooler air coming in. friday morning, we are chilly. 42 in the upstate. temperatures from friday to the week and are back to normal. low 50's in the ups40's for highs and the mountains. at least it looks drive for new year's day. mike: good news, there. we will give you a live look outside at our hilton greenville skycam. dark and wet other on this rainy morning. we're keeping youpdated on the latest weather conditions. aly: the monday morning commute in portland, oregon was messy thanks to winter weather. mike: clean up crews were busy at work due to trees in the road and plenty of cars that veered off the road. some roads in the area have been closed since sunday. the forecast is calling for mostly light showers today.

enough to make for a rain-snow mix. aly: in iowa, a winter storm is making for wet conditions. plows and salt trucks are out. trying to clear roads. in michigan, freezing rain pelted vehicles over the weekend and led to slick and slippery roads. the snow and sleet also led to traffic troubles for drivers in wisconsin. the wintry mix and gusty winds caused several cars to spin out and off the roads. no serious injuries were reported. people were out and about in downtown chicago shoveling sidewalks and trudging through the slush. mike: president obama's motorcade was stopped momentarily after a drone was spotted flying on the commander in chief's route. the secret service says the pilot was completely unaware that the presidential motorcade was in the area. the pilot immediately grounded the drone after being confronted by law enforcement. no charges were filed. the motorcade proceeded without further incident. aly: pittsburgh screen filled bridge is no more. it only took a few secon the 94-year-old bridge to come crashing down. the city has been planning to

5 years. it came after inspections of the city's infrastructure indicated that the bridge needed to be replaced. the implosion and clean up required the closing of a major roadway for the city. officials say the traffic impact will be severe. they hope to have the road reopened before new year's day. several people were injured in poland when a fireworks store exploded. firefighters tackled a fire. for more than an hour. officials say it was a difficult job, because fireworks kept exploding. police are investigating how the fire started. mike: chinese rescuers built a lifeline into the ground to reach trapped miners. it will be used to send down food, water and communications equipment. a total of 17 miners are trapped 220 meters down in two separate locations near the shandong province. the mine collapsed friday. the owner on the mine committed suicide sunday.

bit so we have over -- probably seen over an inch of rain yesterday through today. most of the first initial wave of action is pushed in to the east. another wave comes in early tomorrow morning. still until 5:15. asheville, greater part of buncombe county under flash flood warning. creeks and streams out of the bank in a few spots in transylvania and hope county. we will stay under this flood watch through most of the area through thursday morning with another wave of heavier rain coming through wednesday. early tomorrow morning through the end of the day, we see this again. a break this afternoon, this evening, more action expected tomorrow. don't put up the umbrella or rain jacket quite yet. you will need it again tomorrow. then, we see a nice break in the action and cooler temperatures role in for new year's eve, new year's day's, saturday and sunday we are dry and chilly.

dale: no winter weather, but we will be dry and cooler than we should be. dry when it counts. during the week, it is sad with the great. dale: most people agree, we have had quite a bit of rain. aly: here is where it is not gray. in this morning's buzz. a group of photos spreading on social media making a little known place in rio de janeiro a hot tourism attraction. mike: curious hikers are coming in groups to the area known as pedra do telegrafo hoping to pose for photos on its cliff. aly: tourists first have to climb the hill for over an hour and then wait in line, perhaps for another hour in order to get a chance to stand on a stone, which is right on the edge of the cliff and pose for pictures. i know i am getting old when i'm thinking on my mom, what are you doing? get back from their! mike: no way. i don't have that kind of balance. not going to happen.
