people are without power in greenville county. wyff news 4's aly myles joins is here in the studio with the latest on the damage and destruction from all of the rain. aly: flooding power outages and multiple rescues. it all happened overnight, and with more rain on the way, the threat isn't over yet. barricades will remain up in asheville after heavy flooding. firefighters had to save a family in a minivan after swannanoa river road flooded. they were able to throw the family life jackets and help them to safety. it wasn't the only road there to flood. sweeten creek road, part of lyman street, and dupree circle among others also flooded. a mobile home park also flooded. we saw a man saved by a votboat. >> they came out and got me out on a raft boat. the great jacket on me and cut me right out. aly: kelley klope with asheville fire department says they'll

even though the water has receded in asheville, more issues are expected with the coming rain. she asks folks to respect those barricades if they see them. mike: we're also seeing flooding in the upstate. this is sky 4 video from just a short time ago as it flew over caroland farms in landrum. they tell us the water is about three feet deep in some places. their biggest concern is their cattle. they've been moving the animals to higher ground and making su gates are open so the cows move to higher ground on their own if need be. there's also a concern about the equipment. the farm tells us there's not much they can do about the crop fields or the barns at this point. we're also told that part of highway 14 is closed and that water levels have been rising steadily. let's take a look outside an woodruff road sky cam in hour greenville and our asheville sky cam. doesn't seem too bad after the morning we had.

a confirmed tornado. this picture was taken in union county, north carolina. initial radar shows winds were about 80 to 90 miles per hour, but the national weather service will determine the exact size and strength of that tornado sometime today. bad weather in the midwest and the northeast caused cancellation of several hundred flights. the problems come from the system that spawned deadly tornadoes in texas over the weekend, damaging as many as 1,400 homes. it also dumped heavy snow, ice, and rain in the nation's midsection. that is pushing north and east. the other weather worry today, more flooding especially along the mississippi river. with the rain back home, you may also see more destructive potholes opening up from the rain. a big one here on anderson mill road in spartanburg county. a man who lives nearby says dot the department of transportation patched it, but it re-opened after it rained. employees at bolton james wheel alignment in spartanburg says they worked on three cars with

you can report a pothole on the dot's website. a wyff news 4 update now in from spartanburg county. a man died after he was found hurt behind a restaurant over . the coroner identified the man as 36-year-old brent tessnear. he was found unresponsnse sunday behind the hardee's in cowpens. he later died at the hospital. call crime stoppers at 1-888-crime-sc if you have any information about what happened there. in greenville county the coroner , has identified a man who died in the sans souci area. the coroner says nathan crouch died from a gun shot to the chest during an argument. his death has been ruled a homicide. deputies say his body was found sunday night in a home on perry road. if you have any information about what happened there, call crime stoppers at 23-crime. new at noon, greenville county deputies need your help finding a man wanted on attempted murder charges.

911 calls reveal the chaotic moments as boy scouts try to save their scout master being mauled by a bear. we're learning more about their bravery during that attack. the troop was in a new jersey forest last week when the leader walked into a cave where that bear was likely hibernating. the three boys quickly reacted by putting food outside the cave to try and lure it out. they remained on the phone with the 911 operator as searchers were out looking for them. >> guys, on three, everyone's gonna yell, "hello, can you hear us?" >> "can you hear us?" i see the helicopter. >> we'll make it out of this alive. i love you guys. >> we see them. we're over here. mike: none of the boys were hurt. their scout master was taken to the hospital, but we are told the scoutmaster is doing ok. whole foods is paying $500,000 to new york city to settle allegations it overcharged customers for pre-packaged food. in june, city officials tested 80 items and found they were all mislabeled. the organic and natural food supermarket chain will also conduct quarterly audits to ensure products are properly weighed and marked. fiat chrysler's jeep is ending 2015 as the hottest vehicle brand among individual consumers. it's also increasing its reliance on rental fleet sales. it is believed to be a risky strategy that could damage the brand's image. according to "the wall street journal," deliveries of jeeps to rental companies in the first 10 months of this year rose 57% over the same period a year ago. this is new video from a mall in texas that had to be evacuated when a hoverboard exploded and caught fire. shoppers pulled out cell phones to record video as a security guard used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames. the consumer product safety commission is now investigating

as we go into december, each month since october we have seen twice as much rain or more than that from what we typically expect on a monthly basis. we are way ahead in our rainfall totals. saturated ground could lead to more flooding. it has warmed up to 66 in asheville and 68 in greenville. 70 and spartanburg. -- 70 in spartanburg. winds will continue at 10 to 13 plus through the afternoon. normally 52 in the afternoon and 32 in the morning is average when we are not in one of these el nio patterns. mild temperatures and expecting to a 70, just two degrees shy of the record. the mountains have seen 74 on this date at the asheville airport. average is 47. today, we will see upper 60's. unusually warm for a good bit of the south. look at the difference. look at the snow falling in the

country. cold temperatures behind this front will be felt starting friday. especially saturday and sunday and monday morning. it will be like winter as the cold air makes its way dhere is our future plus forecast. we will see sunshine this afternoon. tomorrow late morning and into the afternoon, more showers and thunderstorms across the ashould be over by early thursday morning. drier and cooler air comes in for the weekend. today's high from 70 to 71 across the area for the upstate. for the mountains, upper 60's expected for afternoon highs today. looking ahead with the four-day plus forecast, tomorrow is still mild. starting to get a little cooler as we get to new year's eve. a high of 63. 10 degrees cooler on new year's day with 44 in the mountains and 53 in the upstate. cold mornings continues saturday to the weekend. 30's in the upstate and 20's in the mountains.
