chris: one more day of each. then we cool back down and winter takes hold of the carolinas and georgia. on satellite and radar, you can see the front that rattus torrential rainfall. us torrential rainfall. did you hear it? that front didn't make it far enough south so it will retrograde back to our area and give us more rain. mountains. most of it has been flooding. landslides in the mountains, we had a tornado towards the charlotte area. across our area, a flood watch until thursday at 7:00 a.m. with more rain headed our way. let's time it out for you. look how the clouds increased by 11:00. i will show you the latest models, when the are rain arrives -- when the rain arrives. in the morning, heavier rain

atlanta and albany, the rain will be headed our way by the afternoon, heavy at times. i will timeout the forecast for your town coming up. carol: back now to buncombe county, where barricades are up tonight. the rain overnight flooded streets, swept away cars, and some people needed a rescue. michael: and even with the water receded, a threat remains. wyff news 4's aly myles, with our report tonight. >> i got dressed and said, how am i gonna get out? so i just called 911. aly: imagine waking up to see your driveway looking like a river. >> they had to send rescue down here to get out on a raft boat. aly: glenn lamb called 911, getting saved by firefighters, and a boat taking him to safety. >> the fire department and city of asheville came out, and got me out on a raft boat. they came around and put a jacket on me, and got me right out, no problem at all. aly: glenn's car was turned around in the driveway when he woke up, pushed by the force of

kelley klope with the asheville fire department says it doesn't take much flooding to lift a car. that's why she asks everyone to respect barricades when driving. >> they underestimate the power of that water. the water and so we ask people to respect , the barricades, because not only are we responding to your calls, we have other calls. aly: part of the reason glenn didn't risk leaving by himself, he says he was once a firefighter, too. >> matter of fact, a few years back, i was a member of that fire department. aly: that's why he says he wasn't scared. >> i knew they'd get me out. aly: aly myles, wyff news 4, in buncombe county. carol: we are told they will keep the barricades up, because although the water has receded more issf , rain continues. michael: the national weather service confirmed a tornado yesterday in union county, north carolina. that's east of charlotte. the weather service says it formed last night just before 5:00,

no injuries were reported in connection to all this. carol: following breaking news, deputies in greenville county say a woman was sh at a townhome in taylors. she was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. deputies say former roommates were involved in a fight that led to the shooting. we will keep you updated online and on air. fire officials tell us a hover board started a house fire in molden. the fire broke out this afternoon in the plantation subdivision. sled agents told neighbors this was the first hopper board fire reported in south carolina. the family says the hoverboards was sitting on the living room floor when it exploded. it was a christmas gift. the family dog almost didn't make it, but he is ok. michael: the clemson tigers are gearing up for the orange bowl in miami. today, wyff news 4 sports got a chance to talk with the players for clemson and oklahoma.

marc dopher joins us live. -- one of our boys, marc dopher jones us live. marc: it was pandemonium. they spread all the players around the room and it was a free-for-all for the media. an hour later, they didd it with oklahoma the same way. we caught up with every player we wanted to. brad fralick caught up with jordan like it. -- jordan leggett. brad: oklahoma did trash talking yesterday. does that bother you? x they can trash talk. football is an emotional game. you can cope with it how you want to. we will try to be respectful as possible. we try to be respectful in press conferences. but on the field, stuff like get said. very emotional. trtrh talking doesn't get people that far.

brad: i heard another player say miami was probably the most trash >> it definitely was. the coach put -- told us off the field to talk about it. miami was the best trash talking team we had. brad: what would it mean to you to get to the national championship? >> being from florida, i am excited. every time i have played in the state, we got the w. i am extremely excited. if we get the win, we get to go to the national championship, and it will be the first time in i don't know how many years. we are making history as each game goes, with the undefeated season so far. i am definitely excited. i'm ready for the game. brad: jordan leggett of the clemsosotigers.

carol: the water is receiving in landrum after flooding overnight but there is plenty overnight. mandy gaither is in spartanburg county tonight. mandy: the problem here has been the pacolet river overflowing and spilling onto the land around it. people to work here say that normally, you can cross the river, walk across it. it's risen an estimated 8 feet. >> it's crazy. mandy: at caroland farms in landrum, water from the pacolet river isn't all where it's supposed to be. it spilled over the banks, throughout the property, pools of it. >> we're kind of learning to live with rubber boots on, and figuring out how to work in the mud. mandy: the water now receding, but there's still plenty left behind. cows have less land than usual to roam, but all are accounted for. worries over equipment behind -- being bogged down now eased,

the water didn't make it to the barn. now the question is, what damage was done to the crops. >> everything is early planted. we won't really know what kind of effect it has until later in the year. most of the pastures for the cows will be fine. so yeah, it's a waiting game now. hopefully, the rain that's coming tomorrow doesn't cause too much more flooding. mandy: other properties around landrum, and just over the border in north carolina, had significant flooding, too. a portion of highway 14 had to be shut down while crews worked to clear it. back on caroland farms, rainey says things could have been much worse. you can see from this mark on the post how high the water was earlier. but now, here, it's all gone. mandy gaither, wyff news 4, in landrum. michael: authorities in newberry county released water from lake greenwood. the lake is in a high water condition. the water released today will flow into the saluda river,

officials tell us the dam was never in danger of collapsing. carol: a greenwood businessman is facing counterfeiting charges tonight. 42-year-old demetrius antonio andrews is accused after authorities seized $80,000 worth of name brand knock off items from "t-shirts and accessories" on milwee avenue. greenwood police say the items included purses, wallets, and boots. the brand names included michael kors, nike, north face, and timberland. items were also seized at andrews' home. a truck and car were taken, too. michael: flags flew at half staff in anderson today, in memory of long-time city councilman fred tolly. tolly's funeral and burial were held today at first presbyterian church, and at dolly cooper veterans cemetery. he was 89 years old. carol: straight ahead, a low country dog made headlines is back in the spotlight. the honor she received, next.

wyff4.com. look for the holiday sunshine fund on our home page. michael: her it -- images capturing people's hearts. you may remember caitlyn the dog, who was found with her muzzle taped shut. "people" magazine is featuring caitlyn the dog in a full-page spread in its december end of the year issue. the magazine dubbed caitlyn's story the "best survival story of 2015" in the pet awards, hero pets section. the issue was released a few days ago. carol: good news from the greenville humane society tonight. it says it's adopted out more than 600 animals in just the month of december. the society announced on its facebook page today, it's almost hit its all-time record for adoptions in one month. some of those include, of course, the dogs you meet each friday on our pet of the week segment on wyff news 4 at noon. michael: check it out. a father-daughter duo seems to have luck when it comes to finding ancient shark teeth on the beach. your eyes do not deceive you,

ryan barrick and his 9-year-old daughter, kristen, found two megalodon teeth along the shores of the grand strand back in june. just recently, the family visited myrtle beach again, and found three more. ripley's aquarium says you don't find teeth like these every day, but they aren't uncommon. they're often uncovered by storms, dredging, or normal beach erosion. kristen says, now that she's made these great discoveries, she'll stop worrying about the small ones, and just look for the big teeth instead. >> now, your live super doppler 4 hd weather forecast. chris: take a look at the time lapse from laurens. we started the day with clouds and rain but as the day went on, sunshine drydock streets and we had a gorgeous day. -- sunshine dried out the streets and we had a gorgeous day. more rain comes back tomorrow.

a front to the south right now has stalled out in columbia. unfortunately, it didn't move far enough south. that leaves us in the bull's-eye for more rain on wednesday. as we zoom in closer, all clear right now and most of the evening should be clear. overnight and into tomorrow, rain will move back in. temperatures are mild out there. near record warm, 72 in abbeville, elberton, 79 today. you have fallen to 74. 61 in asheville. temperatures. not too bad, the upstate in the northern part. in the mountains, around 57. showers further south, cloudy skies in the mountains. heavy at times. 15 nine in greenville, warming into the middle 60's. scattered showers and

should be heavy. mid 60's for temperatures. 59 in anderson, 67 by 2:00. in asheville, 54 degrees in the morning, 64 to end the day with a clap or two of thunder possible. depending on where you live. upper 60's to around 70 further south, and in the greenville-spartanburg area, mid 60's. nationally, calm her then yesterday with a -- calm her then yesterday. the pesky front is hanging around and will provide more rain later on. the cold air will eventually move our way by this weekend. all indications are, the cold pattern will last through january is all the models are showing a pattern flip heading our way. the latest future plus model shows clouds will be on the increase overnight.
