new at noon, we have live team coverage with h ews acorss the upstate to bring us the latest and show you how the rain is affecting our area. corey davis and patrick hussion are live in greenville county, mandy gather in anderson county and meteorologist dale gilbert in the weather center, which is where we want to begin. what does it look like? dale: thank you. heaviest of the rain is affecting greenwood into newberry county and of new york and chester. frequent lightning associated with the thunderstorms and a slow-moving thunderstorms keeps training across the piedmont and causing a lot of rain to fall in a short period of time. frequent lightning along 26 and greenwood getting heavy downpours. these are all the counties under flash flood warnings until 3:00 or later.

rain, the quick rising creeks and streams can lead to flooding across the counties highlighted in red from just about everybody in the upstate and south of i-85. this will continue until 3:00 today. if you live in a prone flood area or areas that are prone to flooding, a careful traveling. if you have a creek coming over a road, do not drive through it. even a few inches can take you into the creek and into a lot of trouble in a short period of time. things should get betterer as the evening goes on. until 3:15, quite a few counties under flash flood warnings. we will talk about better weather in a few minmike: thank you. we do want to begin with wyff news 4's corey davis who is live in greenville, where several roads and parks are shut down. corey?

after downpours that ended about one hour ago. we are at false park with a look at reedy river. the water level is just over five feet for most of the river in greenville county. flood stage isn't until the water reaches 12 feet. the river is handling the water ok but there is a lot of surface , flooding. here's a look at new video of cleveland park. we've seen it in worse condition, but there is standing water that continues to get deeper out there. greenville official say cleveland park the greenville zoo and swamp rabbit trail are all closed until further notice. i've been in contact the greenville county emergency management, and right now, they say conditions aren't to the point where they would need to take any emergency action. right now, the south carolina highway patrol is reporting several intersections that are flooding in greenville county. standing springs road at ashmore bridge road, camden drive at piedmont highway, augusta road at twin springs drive, lee vaughn road, and anderson bridge

creek carried that creek then goes underneath the man's driveway and meets u reservoir. you can see that water over there is rushing very swiftly through the property. it is also rising. it has gotten higher and higher. while we are continuing to look at that, i want to tell you that anderson county officials are concerned about this. we have seen a lot of standing water on the roadways and cars having to slow down. officials are now saying they will partially activate the emergency operation center getting at 1:00 today as they continue to monitor the situation. a have also gotten some of the technical rescue teams on standby to go to some of theareas that normally get the flooding. they are expecting more rain this afternoon. for now, they're waiting to see what happens next. then to gaither wyff news 4 -- mandy gaither wyff news 4 live in anderson county.

we want to go back to greenville county with patrick. patrick: greer police have confirmed that this area near suber road and s setbriar court will be a problem all day. with me now is officer clay anderson with the greer police department. you have been down here since early this morning, why this spot? officer anderson: i got here around six: 30 and it is always a problem area. we were down here in october we had a heavy rain. we have give shoals on this side and the bridge on the side and able the down to the bottom. it won't fill up and start coming over the road. the rain slacked off now and not going across the road, but we believe it blocked offffbecause flash floods happen quickly and we don't have to run back down to prevent someone from going through flash floodwaters. patrick: thank you. we will be keeping an eye on

police have said that these barricades are in place and they should remain in place throughout the day, if not, throughout the night. we were also down in mauldin earlr and we were mentioning the many roads and bridges that could be potentially in danger of being overtaken. often east butler road and corn road near mauldin high school, we saw heavy rain and flooding. the school is closed to students for the holidays, so no extra school traffic thankfully. one of our ulocal photographers sent video in a short it ago. that is important because as the day progresses, if you notice anything at all, when the rain continues -- if you notice anything, safely take a picture or video and send it into your local. we will be keeping an eye on this offense greer. live in greer, patrick wyff news 4.

wyff news 4 does have a crew on the way to cherokee county. on the left side of your screen, you can read that list of roads, dogwood drive, hedy road street and they are currently closed due to flooding. we do have a crew on the way to get us pictures from that area. in newberry county, greenwood is in a high water condition. the water let go will flow into the saluda river and eventually downstream into lake murray. officials tell us the dam there at lake greenwood was never in danger of collapsing. and don't forget, for the latest weather updates, including live radar and updates, you can download our mobile app. it's free and available in both apple and android stores. let's talk sports. the clemson tigers are in miami getting ready for the orange bowl. this morning, coach dabo swinney has confirmed reports that three players have been suspended from the orange bowl game. sports director brad fralick is

reaction to the suspensions. brad: thank you. you are right. dabo swinney after confirming that the three players have been sent home, said he didn't think it would affect the team. the first bad news. here is what we reported last night at 11:00. wide receiver deon cain, kicker ammon lakip, and tight end j.j. mccullough were sent home for a violation of team rules, and swinney basically said both lakip and mccullough will no longer be a part of the program. lakip is a senior, so he is finished, and swinney said mccullough is gone. he did say deon cain will have the chance to earn his way back, if he can grow up, but swinney said they will move on business and usual. >> this is just what i do. it's just part of my job. when you have 115 guys, you are going to have some discipline from time to time, and at the

pickens county deputies are investigating a homicide after finding a man dead inside his home. the home's on planters way in easley. deputies say a neighbor called 911 after seeing the victim through a window. deputies say the man had a gun shot to his chest. the coroner identified the victim as clarence holcombe. cowpens police say they've charged angelita nicole wright of pacolet with hit and run, resulting in a death. the incident happened sunday morning behind hardee's in cowpens. the coroner says brent lee tessnear died at the hospital. police say wright claims to be tessnear's legal wife, but investigators have not confirmed that. the simpsonville police department is on the hunt for a second burglary suspect. police say 41-year-old jarrod lee leonard and 37-year-old leon travis pollock burglarized several homes that remain under construction. as a result of a joint investigation involving the simpsonville police department, greenville county sheriff's

police department, leonard has been arrested. simpsonville police need your help finding pollock. take a look at his picture. police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. firefighters say a hoverboard given as a christmas present caused a house fire. the mauldin fire department was called to this home on windrush lane yesterday after a hoverboard exploded. officicis say the board was sitting in the living room when it burst into flames sending charred pieces flying 25 feet across the house. no one was hurt. officials say if the family had not been home the house , would have likely burned to the ground. >> i, personally, do not think they are safe. there has not been enough testing on them. any frfrnds i have, i am going to give them a phone call and say they may want to return them. mike: there have been at least 22 other hoverboard fires reported in the nation. officials say this may be the first one for south carolina. and in georgia, the augusta fire department also responded to a fire caused by a hoverboard. it happened christmas day.

years in a few mo mike: covering the nation now, a fatal car crash in new hampshire that included four on-duty secret service agents . 45-year-old bruce danforth was drivininlast night when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a vehicle carrying four on-duty secret service agents. the man was killed in the crash and the officer and agents were taken to the hospital and expected to be ok. the accident is under investigation this afternoon. to flordia now, five people are dead in a wrong-way crash on interstate 95 in miami. the accident happened early this morning. police say a pickup truck was traveling the wrong way on the northbound lanes when it collided with several other cars. the driver of the pickup died and so did for people in one of the cars she hit. two others were hospitalized. investigators now say the pilot who crashed into a building in alaska, sparking a fire, wasn'

plane. doug demarest died when his cessna 172 clipped an office building, then crashed into another building, yesterday in anchorage. the plane belonged to the civil air patrol, which assists in searches, rescues, and homeland security. caught on camera, a fire chiefs quick thinking saved a man's life life during a fiery crash. take a look at this. the car slammed into a utility pole on monday in york township, pennsylvania, and later smoke and flames could be seen coming from the rear of the car. the city's fire chief was the first on scene and took immediate action, running to the car without his fire gear on. he pulled an unconscious man out of the car and dragged him to safety. >> with the gas tank burning, it was burning right under the gas tank. it could have blown up anytime. it was his job, but he is a hero as far as i am concerned. mike: the driver is expected to recover. some incredible video out of

severe flooding. take a look at this. 18 people have been killed as rising flood waters cover the state. a lot t roads and buildings are almost completely underwater, and things could get worse. right now, officials say they're monitoring 19 vulnerable levees on the mississippi river. we are going to take another look outside in the upstate. you are looking live at false park in downtown greenville. alive drive as crews had to cherokee county, where there are roads closed due to flooding. we are back with dale with more rain throughout the day. dale: we have more rain still to come this afternoon and early tomorrow before the system finally moves through the area. things will finally clear up, but it is cloudy and foggy as we look up from our woodruff road skycam right now. let's take a look at live super

bulk of the shower activity is developing right now. and that i-77 core door, frequent lightning bolts associated with thunderstorms factor newberry county and i io greenwood and parts of abbeville county and into georgia. this will continue through the afternoon. with thunderstorms, it has been torrential downpours of rain right after another. several places have gotten two inches, plus three inches leading to localized flooding. we have all these flash flood warnings out for counties across the upstate. more actioioback in georgia and slowly making its way eastward and will impact some same counties. until 3:00 or later, counties highlighted in red, including anderson, southern greenville county, spartanburg county and all the way through greenwood, newberry, fairfield and hart county and elberton county, all under a flash flood warning situation until 3:00 or later.

are rising quickly with more heavy downpours of rain. it could cause problems, so you may need to take quick action to protect property and lives of animals. obviously, we say it time and time again. if you live in an area where creek can overflow, that rushing water can take you and your car into the creek, so never you come to a situation where a road is covered in water, turn around and do not drown. how much rain have we had so far? greenville, 1.82 in downtown. at gsp, 1.71. anderson, one point 39. greenwood, 1.29. one report out of spartanburg gets us caught up to noon, but it is still coming down and we will see a good bit more in the rain gauges before it is said and done.
