barricades were put up for most of the day to keep people from driving in potentially dangerous areas. breaks in the rain though allowed people to venture out to the reedy river at falls park. the water rose to about seven feet during the day there. that's not flood stage, but it is higher than usual. >> one of the fewest times i had seen this like this. it's a very beautiful place to come. aly: right now, officials with greenville county emergency management say they don't plan to take emergency action at this time. greenville seems to have avoided much of a lingering issue here after all the rain. aly myles wyff news 4 live at the greenville zoo. allyson: thank you. nearly three inches in greenwood storms and the community have to find somewhere to go. mike: people livivi in the wilson creek mobile home park had to deal with their backyard looking like a lake and it almost made the way into the homes.

for the afternoon with the cross. >> they were glad to have a place of refuge, get away from the flooding because this has happened before. mike: just before dark, the water had gone down enough by last night for people to return to their homes, but the red cross remained on standby just in case the creek started rising again. allyson: people also evacuated at an apartment in cherokee county. they live in an apartment complex on brugg street in blacksburg. mike: slick roads nearly sent an suv over the bridge. they say that suv slid off the road, got stuck and nobody was hurt. allyson: anderson county saw its share of high water. the saluda river, part of the problem there, standing water on the roads and a river in overflow. in pelzer, adger street is prone

are seeing the saluda river rise over a boat ramp into yards nearby. in williamston, mineral spring park flooded. the holiday light display there not spared. >> she just has to raincoat and we are trying to hurry up and get to and from where we need to go. allyson: on cheddar road in anderson county, an emergency spillway is getting a lot of use, and water from highway 29 rushed down watermelon creek, which runs beneath the road. mike: rising flood waters affected a number of creeks and roads in greenville county throughout the day, with trouble spots here off of east butler road in mauldin as well as suber road in greer. take a look here as this recreation and picnic area in mauldin suddenly turned into a river and threat. waters rose closer and closer to east butler road, but greer police shut down the road one of the lowest lying roads in the county. >> if you get caught, you can lose your license for six months.

the barricades and someone comes in later, you could cost someone their life. mike: people in simpsonville save the rain ravaged their homes. check out the outside of this home on willowbranch drive. amy baker who lives here says this happens every time there is a heavy rain. she says the water is coming from a retention pond in a subdivision behind her home. baker says it's heartbreaking because it seems like her yard never completely dries out. >> it is saturated. they have a trampoline back there and that is the only thing they can do in the backyard. >> kind of sad and disappointed because we were hoping to play, and we did not get to. mike: they could tells us the family has been dealing with this problem for nallyson: some streets had to be shut down two to floodwaters. this is on the corner of park and carolina street. officials say if the rate continues, the water might

all of this rain comes more than two months after historic flooding hit our region. mike: in october, 19 people died in south carolina, two people di in north carolina. the authorities say all the deaths happened in or near vehicles. heavy rain and massive flooding started october 2. allyson: it is hard to look at those videos knowing the. a little drizzle. dale: it has been raining pretty heavy in the piedmont this morning. this el nio pattern was expected to give us a wetter hall,fall, duh, but we have had more rain than we typically expect. instead of four inches of rain, a good month, we have had over 10 inches each month. it has gotten us wait the head. -- it has gotten us wait ahead.

out of greenwood and parts of southern laurens in newberry county, heavy downpours and chapels and this continues eastward. it is not the end. it's scattered showers the current in parts of georgia. a few light showers working inside anderson county and parts of the upstate could get a sprinkle of two the front finally makes its weight farther to the south and out of our area by this evening. he will have a chance to dry out for several days in a row. wednesday's rain alone, half a months worth fell gsp. greenwood, almost three inches causing flooding. that "r" stands for record for yesterday's date alone. that was a record amount. as we look at temperatures this morning, they range from upper 50's to mid 60's. very mild. this is above what we normally see.

piedmont and mid sections of georgia and south carolina. an isolated shower in the upstate cannot be ruled out between now and new. how much rain did beget yesterday? gsp got over two inches, two point 07, a record for yesterday's date. anderson got over two inches. these are airport reports. i am sure there are many rain gauges that some more than this yesterday, but gives you an idea of how much rain we had gotten we have these events. that is happened months worth of rain in a few hours and that leads to flooding. today, upper 50's and 60's working to the mid-60's with the afternoon. the mountains climb to the upper 50's for highs. wind out of the north in the mountains and they will be more northerly for the upstate by the afternoon. cooler temperatures are coming and drier conditions. a lot of sunshine as we get to this weekend and into the first and middle of next week.

vehicle, and an officer eventually found it on the road near columbus. he was arrested and charged with dui, following too closely, a marked lane violation and carrying an open container. allyson: bill cosby now faces a criminal charge in connection to sexual assault allegations. it's the first criminal charge against cosby. he was arraigned yesterday afternoon, where he did not enter a plea. cosby will remain free on $1 million bail pending trial. more than 40 women have publicly accused the 78-year-old of assaulting them over four decades. the criminal charge stems from a woman's accusation that cosby drugged and abused her at his home back in 2004. >> mr. cosby urged her to take pills that he provided to her and to drink wine. the effect of which rendered her unable to move, or respond to his advances and he committed aggravated indecent assault upon

allyson: cosby has denied any wrongdoing, and said all contact was consensual. his next court hearing is january 14. mike: the internal revenue services says the 2016 tax season will open on january 19. anyone expecting a refund won't have to wait too long to get one. the irs anticipates issuing more than nine out ten refunds in less than 21 days. the deadline for all federal returns and requests for extensions is april 18 for most of the nation. that's because emancipation day falls on the traditional april 15 deadline. allyson: have you heard of this? google chrome has a new add-on that lets users block all images and references to donald trump. the trump filter extension launched on christmas eve. a description of the app calls it part of the, quote, "antidote for trump's toxic candidacy." the developer says he built it to take the spotlight off trump and let people focus on other candidates and the issues. the app has three settings, mild, aggressive, and vindictive. on mild, trumps whole twitter page goes blank. the vindictive setting blocks

and google news. take a look at this massive seal. california wildlife officials aren't quite sure why the elephant seal crossed the road. they say it may have been looking for a place to give birth. on monday, the seal flopped across one lane of highway, and tried to climb over the divider. officials herded the seal off the road, and watched her overnight until she returned to the water. look at that. mike: huge. a rare seal surprised its keepers at a russian aquatic park by painting a picture using brushes held in its mouth. officials say these animals are shy and usually avoid people, but this aquatic park presents a rare opportunity to see the seals performing stunts, including painting. the art was later sold at a special auction. allyson: they are so cute. surviving the flood.

>> now, your live super doppler 4 hd forecast. dale: good morning. let's take a look at live super doppler 4 we are picking up rain in anderson. look out for slippery spots on i-85 with new showers developing. you will run into heavy rain in newberry, said the union county and laurens county. the front impacting parts of the piedmont and southern part of the upstate through the morning hours and into the afternoon. after that, it should be far enough to the south where we are in the clear. a broader look at the southeast, over two inches of rain yesterday for good bit of the region. greenwood almost got three, causing flooding.

when it comes down faster than the natural drainage system can take it away, it comes out of creeks and streams. it looks like this will be the last they receive showers and then dry weather settles in for new year's day. 10 degrees cooler and temperatures will be chilly as far as what we have had recently but back to normal. cold nights and cold days ahead with lots of sunshine to the middle of next week. good news for everyone who is sick and tired of the rain. sunshine starts tomorrow and lingers through the middle of next wmike: i am one of those people. dale: we all are. mike: in this morning's buzz, it's quite the sight during flooding situations when you see a ball of ants floating by. allyson: mike can't even predict. take a look at this island of floating fire ants. this band of insects was spotted on floodwaters in pelzer. the ants apparently use jaws, claws and sticky stuff on their
