because we are blocked off with current conditions. we were driving around earlier and we did not see whole lot of rain. there is hud lane and -- there is puddling. take a look at the video from yesterday's conditions. it was too dangerous to drive some roads around cleveland park because of flooding. barricades were put up for most of the day to keep people from driving in potentially dangerous areas. breaks in the rain though allowed people to venture out to the reedy river at falls park. the water rose to about seven feet during the day there. that's not flood stage, but it is higher than usual. >> one of the fewest times i had seen this like this. it's a very beautiful place to come. aly: right now, officials with greenville county emergency management say they don't plan to take emergency action at this time. greenville seems to have avoided much of a lingering issue here after all the rain.

mike: thank you. much bigger mess in greenwood county. the national weather service repog that they got almost three inches yesterday. allyson: that caused water from wilson creek to flowed into the back yards of people living in the wilson creek mobile home park. 18 people took shelter for the afternoon with the red cross. the owner of the park says no homes were damaged. the water had gone down enough by last night for people to return to their homes, but the red cross remained on standby just in case the creek started rising again. mike: people also evacuated at an apartment in cherokee county. they live in an apartment complex on brugg street in blacksburg. no word on the extent of damage, if any there. allyson: anderson county saw its share of high water. the saluda river, part of the problem there, standing water on the roads and a river in overflow. in pelzer, adger street is prone to flood, and areas around it are seeing the saluda river rise over a boat ramp into yards nearby. in williamston, mineral spring park flooded.

not spared. on cheddar road in anderson county, an emergency spillway is getting a lot of use, and water from highway 29 rushed down watermelon creek, which runs beneath the road. mike: rising flood waters affected a number of creeks and roads in greenville county throughout the day, with trouble spots here off of east butler road in mauldin as well as suber road in greer. take a look here as this recreation and picnic area in the suburbs of mauldin suddenly turned into a river and threat. waters rose closer and closer to east butler road, but greer police shut down the road, one of the lowest lying roads in the county. allyson: people in simpsonville are cleaning up after heavy rain ravaged their yards. check out the outside of this home on willowbranch drive. amy baker lives here and she says this happens every time there is a heavy rain. she says the water is coming from a retention pond in a subdivision behind her home. baker says it's heartbreaking because it seems like her yard never completely dries out.

we are taking a look at st. louis, missouri, where flooding is occurring. they expect the mississippi to crest, reaching nearly 13 feet above flood stage. if that happens, it will be the second worst on record behind the devastating floods of 1990 -- 1983. it has been a problem across the country with the el nio pattern continuing, which typically means a wider fall -- wetter fall or winter. we are seeing raindrops on a woodruff road skycam as traffic picks up. we're seeing a line of showers to spartanburg, greenville, pickens county. it has been raining heavily in greenwood. that has shifted from newberry into fairfield county with thunderstorms. heavy downpours over chester county come up county and fairfield county. more expected with showers in georgia that will work their way

a few isolated showers into the upstate until early afafrnoon and all of it starts to look farther to the south. we will get a chance to dry out. we got a record amount at gsp, over two inches of rain, just shy of 10 inches for the year. asheville got less than .5 of an inch, but we have been having just huge amounts of grain the last several months. greenwood had almost eight inches, leading to flood reports from everywhere. we will need a couple of days to dry out. we will get that starting tomorrow. temperatures will be 10 degrees cooler. we will reach 60's for the upstate, upper 50's in the mountains today and about 10 degrees off of that tomorrow as we head into new year's with a chance to dry out.

a little sports news for you this morning. the 24th ranked sout men's basketball team remain one of four unbeaten teams left in the country. the gamecocks hosted division two francis marion last night, and check out that dunk by freshman jamall gregory. chris silva led usc with 13 points. as south carolina moves to 12 and 0 on the year, beating francis marion 78 to 56. meanwhile, clemson has never experienced victory in chapel hill, and still hasn't after playing there last night. now 0 and 58, all-time at the dean dome as the tigers fall in their acc opener to north carolina, 80 to 69. the tar heels 58th straight home win against clemson. how about this? carolina panthers quarterback cam newton now a father. he tweeted last night that he and his longtime girlfriend had a son last week. newton kept the news quiet because he didn't want to distract his team. the new dad will try to lead carolina to the number one seed in the nfc with a win sunday against tampa bay.
