allyson: happy new year as a big in 2016. a look at how some of the u.s. rank in the new year. some one million people gathered in times square last night to watch the crystal ball drop. in bethlehem, a giant peach and some people rank in the cheese drop in wisconsin. patrick: in the new year, we take a live look at that woodruff road skycam. it is still dark but clear looking. dale, what can we expect? dale: a mostly cloudy day for the upstate and mountains, but the rain has pushed down to the coast so we will get a chance to dry out. we will start to see the sky clear leader tonight and colder for saturday and sunday morning. make your weekend plans and warm coats needed for both mornings saturday and sunday as

as we look out this morning, traffic inbound and outbound on 380 a good bit of traffic overnight with all the new year's eve celebrations. on this new year's morning, temperatures are not as cold as they can be. a good blanket of clouds, but no precipitation expected from the clouds today. the rain from yesterday is down along the coast and will continue to make its way off the coast. we will see these temperatures in the 40's and 50's this morning. they will climb into the upper 40's and 50's in the upstate. it is the breeze in the mountains at 15 to 16 that makes it feel colder. feels like 28 and hendersonville and 32 in asheville. dress warmly. a quick look ahead at our four day plus forecast. 56 for the upstate point afternoon high, the mountains of climb to upper 40's.

the 30's in asheville and hendersonville. average for the upstate is 32 overnight and 52 for a high. we have had temperatures that have been much warmer than that. today, we get up to 56. the mountains are almost right on the money. 47 is the average, 40 eight point afternoon high today. once the clouds cleared, the night so get colder and the days will be sunny but cool come saturday and sunday. a blanket of clouds still impacts a good bit of our area. denver is at eight degrees, 19 in chicago, 37 in boston. we will have temperatures in the 20's and 30's tomorrow morning. mostly sunny in the beach both days, 50's. for the upstate and mountains tomorrow, 27 for the mountains, 35 in the upstate and highs where they should be. what he seven to 54.
