we will talk about the weekend and next week, coming up. allyson: thank you, dale. you heard they'll say, it could be a wet morning for the roads. be careful as you go out the door. officers are investigating a shooting in clinton. clinton public safety officials tell us that a number of people were injured. it happened last night near north broad street. no word on how many or the extent. but officials do not believed any suffered life-threatening injuries. this time, no suspect has been arrested. geoff: an upstate mother is in boyfriend was charged with stepping on her baby daughter. leroy morris faces several charges, including unlawful conduct toward a child. officers say he lives with whitney barnwell. yesterday, officers filed judge denied bond for leroy morris. the mother's bond was set at $75,000. right now, the child is at the greenville health system.

allyson: in horry county, the cause of death of baby grace cruz has officially been ruled a drowning. as you may remember, her body was found in a creek in socastee her mother claimed she lost her in the rushing creek water. a deputy coroner ruled the manner of death was homicide. sarah toney was charged with homicide by child abuse. bond was denied. police in hendersonville say four people are facing charges in connection with the death of a man found alongside a road. police say 24-year-old shawn hernandez face accessory after the fact charges. yesterday police charged 23-year-old shawn hollifield and 20-year-old savannah walker with murder. police say they found 28-year-old deque taylor's body on 9th avenue on december 3. geoff: three people are in custody this morning following a police chase in anderson. sky 4 flew over the crash scene yesterday, where the chase ended along i-85 at 27. police said the chase started on

this is when officers spotted a car that was reported stolen in travelers rest. the driver faces multiple charges, including receiving stolen goods. the passengers face charges of receiving stolen goods. allyson: a longtime south carolina senator has died, according to the anderson county legislative delegation. senator billy o'dell died in his sleep. the greenwood county coroner believes he died due to heart related issues. he was a businessman who had served as a rereblican in the south carolina senate since 1989. o'dell served district 4 in abbeville, anderson and greenwood counties. o'dell was the chairman of the general committee. he was also the ceo of o'dell corporation incorporated. governor nikki haley also released a statement on o'dell's passing. it reads in part, quote, we are forever grateful for his surface. -- for his service.

up senator o'dell's wife, gail, and his family, friends and constituents during this difficult time. he made south carolina a better place. geoff: nikki haley is laying out a plan to help fight domestic violence in south carolina. she said she is giving her task force more time to deal with the issue. she also is looking at how domestic violence cases are prosecuted in the state. >> in my executive budget we are putting $19 million, which will take away domestic violence cases from officers and assign them to prosecutors. we are going to add 144 new prosecutors and put three new judges into the circuit court. we will have more money in a therefore public defenders. allyson: clemson university is cleaning up tillman hall after it was tagged with graffiti, once again.

joins us live from clemson with more. aly: it is a much different scene from what we saw yesterday. they have removed graffiti from that area. they have put up those signs. they have been covering up that graffiti. they say someone spray-painted messages on the building against the man it is named after. this video shows the messages painted on the building. they call for the university to rename the halaland stop honoring ben tillman. he was a white supremacist, which has stirred up a lot of debate on the campus. the building was also vandalized in july, the same week the confederate flag was removed from the statehouse grounds. >> i suppose it is unfortunate that course of action. aly: the university spokesperson says they hope this crime doesn't take away from efforts to tell the school's full history.

allyson: this week's golden apple winner was asked last year to take on an all boys second grade class. geoff: it went so well, he agreed to move up to third grade to teach the boys again. here's how he's getting great results. dressed for success, welcome to bowtie thursday in the third grade class. >> they have gotten many compliments about being snazzy. >> the boys feel smarter when they are wearing these dress shirts and bowties. geoff: it is one of mr. rowland's strategies to get the best from his class. it is an active, learning, and moving environment. >> thinking outside the box may not always be tied to the

it. geoff: the shirts and bowties were donated to the class. >> and has increased their reading. boys don't like to sit still much. geoff: to keep distraction at a minimum, bungee cords across the bottom of their chairs. and these white boards allow for more interaction. especially with math. and the socks make the cleanup fun too. >> what is one we have learned about? gegef: tracy says he has really helped her son. >> the igneous rock, very good. geoff: with anger and learningng issues. >> seeing those changes is really making me feel like i am

dale: good morning, 5:16 is the time and we have a good bit of rain falling. watch out for slippery roads. across northeastern georgia and western north carolina, about 5050of the area will see rain today. you can see the direction this is working its way and. it is working its way to the east and is connected to a low and the great lakes. another low developing in the gulf of mexico will spread another wave of rain tomorrow through saturday afternoon. 41 in asheville. 46 in greenville. 52 in elberton. we will see temperatures today just get up to about 50 degrees in the afternoon. clouds will keep the temperatures from getting as warm as they did yesterday.

our high today. lunchtime today and then, we have another wave of showers tomorrow. most of the country will be cold, but we will be right around 50 four afternoon highs. most of the shower activity tapers off to isolated showers. not see much better than 50 degrees for a high today. we have upper 40's by 2:00 this afternoon. the mountains will do the same. we will see a climb to the upper 40's for the afternoon. looking ahead, tomorrow has highs from 49-51 again. we have an 80% chance of showers in the upstate and a 70% chance in the mountains. the mountains will see a little more action early sunday morning. the upstate clears up sunday

we have cooler temperatures behind this system. we have cold mornings and cold days in the upper 30's to mid 40's on monday. allyson: thank you, dale. dabo swinney's brother tripp was arrested in florida. news herald, the arrest happened tuesday. the report says tripp swinney is accused of harassing and cyberstalking his estranged wife. dabo addressed the matter following yesterday's last home practice. >> he is almost 50 years old and one thing i learned a long time ago is you can't change people. people have to want to change and want to do the right things. unfortunately, he has had a long history of not doing the right things, but i love him. he is my brother. i have tried to do everything i can to be a good brother and help him. that is his life. he has decisions he has made. allyson: you can find the entire

more cases of vandalism. there are seven or eight cases damage. three of those cases involved houses less than a mile from the rocky creek missionary baptist church. the owners say, they had car windows shot out the same morning as the church had its windows shot out of its vans and it's daycare doors. two other churches also reported window damage. the church members we spoke to say, they are forgiving but want justice. and the e ighbors tell us they take this threat very seriously. >> i think the police should take this seriously and do everything they can and use all these people to justice. allyson: he says he looks to have his truck repaired in the next couple days. he says he's only had it for about a year. geoff: with the south carolina primary about six week away, the greenville tea party is gearing up for a busy political year. members of the group met in

the tea party doesn't endorse candidates, but tells it's members what to evaluate. donald trump and ted cruz are favored by more than half of the republicans. many at this gathering were still trying to decide. allyson: today, donald trump will be in rock hill, south carolina. meanwhile, former florida governor jeb bush will also be in south carolina. he will be in pendleton. the first primary voting starts in 24 days. geoff: when it comes to voting in south carolina, we can learn a lot from elections of the in the last two primaries, the largest segment of voters were people 45 to 64-years-old. that block of people, cast 44% of all votes in the state. compare that to the youngest segment of voters, ages 18-24. they cast fewer than 5% of votes. white voters outnumbered non-white voters more than two to one in the last two primaries. even so, there is far less interest in primary elections. only 20% of voters, both

showing up at the polls. experts say knowing the age and backgrounds of likely voters, helps candidates shape their political messages. >> you will notice that a lot of the issues that the candidates talk about are primarily aimed at middle-aged and older people. and so, the candidates talk to issues of the people they think are going to go vote. geoff: she says candidates who fall behind in the polls often target people with a poor track record of voting, hoping to mobilize those voters on election day. allyson: restaurant week south carolina is once again underway here in the upstate. some of the best and most popular restaurants are offering hohodeals for lunch and dinner over the next 11 days. the event has also grown to include a hotel stay. >> we have 43 restaurants that have signed up this year. that's up from 28 last year. it started out six years ago at

"avatar's" $760.5 million lifetime gross. the number one title comes after just 20 days. allyson: both "avatar" and "star wars" have earned some $1.6 billion globally.
