we will get up to 50 by the end of the day. today will be cloudy and the rain of the morning should be over by about lunchtime. we will talk more about what the rest of the weekend and first of next week will be like in a few minutes. allyson: thank you. new this morning, a suspect is in the hospital after a standoff. geoff: deputies say the bomb squad responded last night to a home on hawthorne drive. they say a man barricaded himself inside and claimed he had a bomb. deputies say they sent k-9s in last night and ended the standoff. the bomb squad found and declared the alleged bomb safe. the man was taken to the hospital for a dog bite. officers are investigating a shooting in clinton. clinton public safety officials tell us that a number of people were injured. it happened last night near north broad street. no word on how many or the extent. but officials do not believed -- believe anyone suffered life-threatening injuries. at this time, no suspect has been arrested. allyson: clemson university is cleaning up tillman hall once it

geoff: wyff news 4's aly myles brings us the latest. aly: this is not the same scene we saw yesterday. just a few hours ago where that wall was blank, that was where we saw graffiti messages where someone spray-painted the name named after. they did cover up that with posters, clemson beat bama, and they used the chantry and chip -- the championship banners to cover up the graffiti. it calls for the university to rename the hall and stop honoring then tillman, cash stop honoring ben tillman. tillman was an avowed white supremacist, which has stirred up a lot of debate on the campus. the building was also vandalized in july. the same week the confederate flag was removed from the statehouse grounds. >> i suppose it's unfortunate that someone felt the need to take that particular course of action. aly: a university spokesperson says they hope this crime doesn't take away from efforts

history. right now, the university is looking to charge the person responsible. again, you see the signs that were put up to cover the graffitti. signs supporting the football team as they head national championship game. happening this morning just down the way at the westzone on centinnial boulevard, the athletics department invites you to help send off the players to arizona. the gathering starts at 11:45 and the buses will be loaded about 12:30 en route to the national title. clemson. geoff: thank you. a wyff news 4 update in simpsonville, more cases of vandalism are being reported. the greenville county sheriff's office says there are about eight cases of potential malicious damage. three of those cases involved houses less than a mile from the rocky creek missionary baptist church. the owners say they had car windows shot out the same morning as the church had its windows shot out of its vans and

two other churches also reported window damage outside of greenville county's jurisdiction but still within simpsonville. allyson: and an update in seneca, a mother is in trouble with the law a day after her boyfriend was charged with dropping and stepping on her baby daughter. leroy morris faces several charges, including unlawful conduct toward a child. officers say he lives with whitney barnwell. officers filed similar charges against her yesterday, and a judge denied bond for leroy morris. the mother's bond was set at $75,000. right now, the child is at the greenville health system. she's only 48-days-old. geoff: an update in hendersonville, where police say four people now face charges in connection with the death of a man found alongside a road. police say shawn hall and crystal hernandez face charges of accessory after the fact. police charged shawn hollifield and savannah walker with murder wednesday. police say they found deque taylor dead on december 3 on ninth avenue near hendersonville

a spartanburg county woman now faces arson charges after a house fire last september. 54-year-old sherri shockley was booked yesterday into the spartanburg county detention center. deputies say that when arrested in september, shockley tried to escape from the patrol car. allyson: flags in anderson county are at half staff in memfory of state senator william billy o'dell. the senator died in his sleep thursday morning. he became a state senator in 1989, serving district four. that's abbeville, anderson and greenwood counties. he was 77-years-old. geoff: commitment 2016, the greenville tea party has put the holiday season behind and is now gearing up for the political season. about 60 members of the group met in downtown greenville last night talking about politics and politicians. the south carolina, first in the south, primary is about six weeks away. the tea party doesn't endorse candidates but tells its members what to evaluate for before voting. donald trump and ted cruz are

republicans in the latest polls. many at this gathering are still trying to decide. presidential candidates are campaigning hard in early voting states with caucuses and primaries on the way. allyson: that includes donald trump. nikole killion joins us. nikole: donald trump comes to the palmetto step -- state after drawing a crowd in vermont. they handed out 20 thousand free tickets for a venue that only seats 1400. weeding out votes if they do not say yes to terms border. donald trump escalates his attacks against the clintons and that includes anthony weiner and comedian bill cosby.

now as we look out back to the city of spartanburg. light rain, 43 degrees, cloud cover overnight. they will only get up to about 54 and afternoon high today. rain over the area, showers in western north carolina and most everybody getting some. heavier showers in northeastern georgia and on again and off again showers will continue to the morning and should wrap up by the afternoon. here is an expanded view of the country, part of a big flow. cold front stretching all the way to florida breaking early rain and by lunch time, it should be over. another low expected to bring us evening. here's our computer model, showers in the morning wrapping up around 12:30, 1:00, and tomorrow morning. more action tomorrow night and

here is the next 48 hours. rain from this system is over by lunchtime and clouds continue through the day tomorrow. about 3:00, 4:00, it gets active continuing into early sunday morning before it tapers off. this weekend and the first on should be over around lunchtime. 45 in greenville, 46 and anderson, 47 in abbeville, low 40's in the mountains. by the end of the day, 50 may be the best we do. yesterday, we got up to 60 sunshine, but averages 52. 50 is our anticipated high today with clouds. asheville normally sees 47, we will do a couple degrees better with an expected high of 49 to 50. that is the weather make up for the south rain. snow behind the system in parts
