president. obama credits her with coining the "fired up, ready to go" rallying cry that was used throughout his campaign. edith childs will join some other people who have landed in the national spotlight recently. that includes staff sergeant spencer stone, who is one of the men who prevented a terror attack on a paris-bound train , along with one of the first women to graduate from army's elite ranger school. myra ruiz, wyff news 4, greenwood. michael: hundreds came out to say goodbye to an upstate lawmaker who died last week. a funeral service for senator billy o'dell took place at the first presbyterian church in greenwood. he died in his sleep on thursday. he was 77 years old and served in the state senate since 1989. o'dell represenated district 4, which included abbeville, anderson, and greenwood counties. he is survived by his wife and two children. gabrielle: deputies say the

led to a murder charge for the baby's mother. anderson county deputies arrested 23-year-old joanie holcombe. the baby's body was found saturday morning, in a field near cherokee circle. officials say the body could have been there since mid-december. according to warrants, holcombe is accused of giving birth to a baby girl, and placing her in a plastic bag. holcombe's bond hearing has been delayed due to health reasons. michael: also in anderson county, the sheriff's office is investigating what deputies are calling a double homicide. deputies say they found two dead bodies near pierce and amy road in the lake secession area, and that was early saturday. deputies said the scene is not far from the abbeville county line. the coroner says both of the victims are male. so far, no word on the identity of the victims. gabrielle: there is still no winner of the huge powerball jackpot. there was no winner on saturday night, and that means the pot grows to an unprecedented $1.4 billion

gabrielle: in news 4 your health, strokes among young adults have increased more than 50% over the past two decades, but a new survey reveals a lack of knowledge about stroke symptoms and treatment. researchers at ucla asked more than 1,000 people under 45 about what they would do if they experienced weakness, numbness, or difficulty speaking. one out of three said they would immediately go to a hospital, but 73% said they would wait to see if their symptoms improved. because early treatment is so vital for stroke patients, experts say it's important that people of any age know the symptoms. almost half of american teens who have never used tobacco themselves, are exposed to secondhand smoke. a study from the centers for disease control found, despite bans on smoking in public places, 48% of youth are exposed in private settings. 16% said they were around

vehicles, and 27% were exposed at work. secondhand smoke exposure has been shown to increase the risk of cancer and other illnesses. new research reveals that children's friends could be sexually harassing them over the internet. about a quarter of 12 to 16-year-olds in the study said they were pressured by friends while online, to talk about sex when they didn't want to. researchers say parental filtering software did not eliminate the problem. some survivors of childhood eye cancers may be at risk for developing medical problems as an adult. researchers followed nearly 500 adult survivors of retinoblastoma, the most common type of eye cancer in young children. those who had tumors in both eyes were at a higher risk of chronic illness and second cancers. most patients who develop the cancer in both eyes have a genetic risk for developing new cancers. >> you can't wait for the next election cycle to govern. we've got to engage to solve the problems, and you've got to do the best you can.
