as confident as i have ever been that the state of our union is strong. thank you. nikole: in his final state of the union, the president cited his accomplishments over the last seven years from the economy to health reform but he , also looked past his presidency telling americans they have a choice in the next election. he took veiled shots at some of the republicans running. many of the candidates took to social media, while south carolina governor nikki haley delivered the official gop response saying the president has fallen short of his soaring words. in washington, i'm nikole killion. patrick: following the state of the union south carolina , governor nikki haley became the first south carolinian to deliver the gop response. the governor criticized president obama's record on the economy, and she turned to frustrations in washington as well. >> many of your frustrations are my frustrations a frustration , with the government that has grown day after day, year after

felkel. budget go chip, thank you for coming in. what's the big takeaway from thestate of the union? >> last time, to term, your chance to remind everybody what you did. he did some of that. i thought he was a little more partisan at times than he necessarily had to be, but it was kind of "this is what i've done for you, i'm reminding you what my successes have been." but he crammed in a lot of stuff and i think it was maybe one of the problems with his speech, although, it was very casual. patrick a like a bit of a legacy. >> it was him is like leaning over a barnes and, hey, let me tell you what we have been doing. if you look at the mannerisms, it was not nearly as formal as past state of the union speeches. he got his points in, took a few jabs that some people. it was the obama last date of the union, and use every right

, threat made by local activists would promote direct conflict with police. the group fighting injustice togegeer says excessive force was used when police arrested 21-year-old jaquan williams last month for possession of marijuana. you're looking at dashcam video of the incident. williams says the incident caused him to lose a tooth. the group is calling for positive action soon or says it will disrupt woodruff road. chief ken miller says that would be against the law, and cause direct conflict with police and the public. patrick: officials in spartanburg county are investigating after a woman was found bleeding from a possible shooting. this is sky 4 video of dive crews searching the south tyger river near reidville road for evidence. deputies say a woman was found face down in the grass on the side of a home last thursday night. deputies are not releasing any other details. allyson: taking a look at the roads, you can see this is charleston, climate, rock killed in greenville all over the state, traffic is moving smoothly.

morning, coming up. allyson: the second largest scdot project in south carolina history starts this month. patrick: it's called the gateway project and will be at the interchange of i-85 and i-385, which you see here live from our skycam. wyff news 4's aly myles joins us live. >> we are here at the magnolia park area. you can see over my shoulder is where the interchange is. that is where the gateway project will begin in late january. it is set to cost $231 million, the second largest for dot in the state ever. we have video here showing the plans for the interchage. it's scheduled to finish in the 2019, design should cut down on traffic backups. >> the biggest benefit is we're going to have collector

dale: good morning. it is getting busy on woodruff road, 385 and 85, traffic picking up. right now's we look across the southeast, high pressure keeping us dry. we did have a little precipitation in the mountains yesterday at the higher elevations which has turned to ice, so mitchell county is on a two-hour delay. temperatures around the region, well, as you can see, we have 20's and teens and north carolina.

>> very significant that she was there representing the state and the republican party. she obviously has been seen as a rising star in the gop. i don't think this without question, some of the tragedy and catastrophe that south carolina faced last year raised her profile. i thought she did a very good job. i thought she gave voice was supposed to do, get the republican response to the democratic president. obama's speech, if you're a democrat you loved it and a republican, maybe not as much.her job was to give the republican response and i thought she hit the point she needed to hit and it so eloquently. patrick: she called it an address and not a response. senator graham, senator scott, their response afterward? >> not surprising. i think they're both frustrated by the way the president handled that. i think lindsey graham has been the one consistently that has talked about the dangers and threats from afar.
