again with a contentious debate. i want us to defend and build on the affordable care act and improve it. bernie sanders we're not going : to tear up the affordable care act. i helped write it. but we are going to move on top of that to a medicare-for all system. martin o'malley i would have to : agree with both of them. they're both inconsistent. geoff: this was the 4th democratic presidential debate. it's also the last time the democrats will square off before the iowa caucuses. patrick hussion has more from charleston at 5:30. myra: right now crews are undergoing a massive search for 12 missing marines. a 22-year-old from the upstate was with one of the crews that disappeared. this is staff sergeant jeffry sempler during his senior year at woodruff high school. he graduated four years ago and quiet personality while in school. the principal said in part , "he possessed a quick and witty sense of humor. he was a young man who thought of others before thinking about himself.

the accident, but remember him warmly and with great pride." officials say sempler and 11 other marines were traveling in two helicopters during a nighttime training mission thursday. they range in age from 21 to 41. somehow the helicopters crashed off the shore of the hawaiian island of oahu. right now crews are battling bad weather and pounding waves as they search for the marines. however the coast guard says there've been no plans to call off or suspend the search. geoff: to anderson county now. officials there are working to figure out how human remains ended up spread out in a wooded area. the deputy coroner tells us the remains were found near the intersection of river and mcneilly roads around 5:00 last night. he says the remains may've have been there for as long as a year. investigators say because of their condition, there is no way to determine the age, gender or race of the remains. myra: also in anderson county. we now know the name of the victim of a deadly wreck

authorities say 42-year-old stephen l. christenbury was pronounced dead at the scene. troopers say the crash happened at the intersection of smith mcgee road and good hope church road. authorities say it was the third fatal crash in southern anderson county in just 24 hours. geoff: the carolina panthers are headed to the nfc championship after a big victory in charlotte against a familiar foe the seattle seahawks. a raucus crowd at bank of cheer about early on. you see jonathan stewart with a 59-yard run on the first play of the game. that set the scene. a tremendous first half for the panthers. their defense stepping up as well. luke kuechly with the pick on seattle's first possession. helping carolina build a 31-0 halftime lead. the seahawks rally in the second half. getting within a touchdown. but the panthers recover the seattle onside kick in the final

geoff: 12 minutes after 5:00 as we cover the nation for you. rick scott toured tornado damage after storms ripped through the southwest part of the state early sunday. two people were killed and dozens of homes were destroyed as an ef2 tornado swept through manatee county. the national weather service says winds reached up to 127 miles-per-hour. in sarasota county, another ef2 storm blasted through the area. county officials say about 45 properties suffered more than 3 million dollars in damage. florida power and light says more than 200,000 people lost power.

dead and another injured after an exchange of gunfire following a car crash south of salt lake city. police officer doug barney died from a single gunshot wound to the head yesterday. investigators say officers barney and john richie responded to a traffic accident when they saw a man and woman walking away from the scene. they say as officer barney approached the two people, the man fired a single round, killing barney. minutes later, officers found the man cory henderson and exchanged gunfire killing him. officer richie was struck three times. he is listed in stable condition. police say the woman is still at-large. geoff: five americans have been released from prison in iran after the u.s. and iran negotiated a prisoner swap. three flew to switzerland, then went to germany last night. they went first to a u.s. military hospital. the 5 included a reporter, a minister, and a former marine. in texas, a group of iranians walked free one day after the

through her front windshield, and landed in the back seat. first responders think the deer may have jumped off an embankment. it died on impact. myra: more heartbreak for celine dion. her brother, daniel dion died after a battle with cancer. he was 59-years-old. daniel dion was one of celine's 13 siblings. he leaves behind two adult daughters, two grandchildren and an extended family of nieces and nephews. the news comes as celine dion prepares for the funeral of her husband, rene angelil. he died on thursday at age 73 after a long battle with throat cancer. geoff: tracy morgan is coming back to t.v.. the actor and comedian is set to star in a pilot for a potential f.x. comedy. according to entertainment weekly, morgan will play a career criminal released from prison after 15 years hoping to blend into society. morgan has slowly re-surfaced in the public eye since a 2014 crash that him seriously injured and killed a close friend. he appeared at the emmys last year and hosted saturday night

myra: in today's consumer news. chipotle is closing all of its restaurants for several hours next month to talk food safety. more than 1900 chipotle restaurants will close on february 8 for a national meeting as the chain continues to deal with food safety issues. according to a chipotle spokesperson, they will discuss food safety changes that are being implemented in light of e-coli and salmonella outbreaks last year. more than 50 people were sickened in the outbreaks. sales have plummeted forgeoff: the u.s. department of transportation released its latest list of on-time performance by u.s. airlines. the on-time average for all airlines combined improved compared to november last year. but dropped slightly from the previous month of october. the airline ranked number one? hawaiian airlines, with 93.9% of flights on time. rounding out the top 5 were. delta, alaska airlines united and american airlines last on the list with the worst performance at number 13 was
