shortly after classes started. the army exchanged gunfire with the attackers and an explosion could be heard. geoff: also, the coast guard calling off the search for 12 missing marines up hawaii's coast. one is from the upstate. allyson: in the coney county, five house buyers in seven days. -- in the coney county, five house fires in seven days. geoff: how much snow could we see? dale: it will be a mountain event, so flurries in the upstate. that disappoints the kids in the upstate. they will not see accumulation. we will see the clouds build. we have seen flurries of snow in western north carolina and that is the area that will be impacted the most. all the areas and purple is a one inch to two inches of snow.

a winter storm warning has been issued for the mountains of georgia. while traveling up 25, 26, you will run into snow late morning and early afternoon. about 1:00, it will be coming down. temperatures from low 20's in the mountains to upper 20's in the upstate. a chilly day ahead. mid to upper 30's at best. the future plus, you can see the snow coming down at 1:00, 2:00, and at about 3:00 to 5:00, flurries the crosby upstate but it won't last long. the mountains will seek snow action this evening. overnight, we will start to see rain developing tomorrow, especially by tomorrow afternoon in the upstate. basically, it will be a mountain snow event that could make for slippery driving conditions from early afternoon and into the evening.

all-district 52 schools in greenwood county will be close. d-hec is testing the water. the schools will stay closed until the water is safe again. the water main break happened in the town of ninety six. geoff: the state of the state, governor nikki haley will give the address tonight. this is video from her address last year, where she proposed cutting the state income tax and raising the gas tax to fix the roads. wyff news 4 will air this year's address live. it begins at 7:00 tonight. allyson: the upstate deputy shot in the head back in december is expected to be released from the hospital today. that is according to the office. as you may recall, dempsey was shot back in december while responding to a robbery. discharged from the hospital at 11:00 this morning. geoff: the coast guard has suspended the search for 12 missing marines off hawaii's

22-year-old sergeant jeffrey sempler from woodruff is one of the twelve. officials say two helicopters crashed during a training exercise last thursday. four life rafts were found from the helicopters. no one was on board the rafts. allyson: it has been eight days since greer high school basketball standout nathan moore died. the cause still unknown. nathan became ill just a week ago and died during his sleep monday night. tracey moore remembers her son nathan as a talented athlete. and that mischievous but charming little boy. she says nathan brought spirit on and off the court. >> he had a personality that drew people in. everyone wanted to be around him. he was just that person that could break the ice in the room and had everyone smilingng talking. allyson: again, the cause of death has yet to be released.

a house fire in pickens. this is video from sky4 yesterday. you can see smoke pouring out of the home on ann street. there is no word on how the fire started. a witness on scene says she saw a small l re, then heard a loud boom. an autopsy is expected today and several pets were killed in that fire. in oconee county, five fires in seven days at homes without smoke detectors. the county fire chief charlie king says most of them started from people simply trying to stay warm. yesterday, the department bought new smoke detectors to give to people in need, and the chief says his department already has a long list. >> any day you can call our office and we're willing to come out and check yours or install a new one. geoff: at a fire on forest drive in seneca on saturday, a smoke detector might have saved the family living inside. the owner's 16-year-old granddaughter smelled the smoke and got everyone out before the detectors even went off. on january 30, oconee county is

go door to door in areas hit by recent fires, trying to make sure everyone has a working smoke detector. allyson: a lot of excitement over an announcement yesterday. south carolina's first cheesecake factory. geoff: haywood mall said in a statement that the restaurant will open this summer. the cheesecake factory has more than 180 locations nationwide. it will open in the former panera bread location in haywood mall next to macy's. pat has a lot of people talking. allyson: i wonder how that area will be big enough. geoff: i have to imagine it will be big enough. allyson: they will make it big enough. dale: plenty of parking. the whole mall. we have clouds building, snow in the forecast starting late morning and early afternoon. it will be picking up across the mountains.

school, we are not expecting any precipitation. little to no accumulation, but the mountains could see two and even three plus inches of snow in the mountains of georgia. chilean asheville, 22 -- chilly in asheville, 22 degrees. precipitation been picked up in the atmosphere but some not reaching the ground yet. it will as a get heavy at reciprocation. just about all of western north carolina from henderson county adult way back to turkey county under the winter weather advisory. pink counties under a winter storm warning with up to three plus inches of snow expected there. you could make for tricky driving conditions. keep that in mind if you have to travel. it could get dicey after lunchtime.

let's take that future plus forecast and look at the next 12 hours. we are seeing a couple of flurries in the mountains of north carolina and more action developing late morning, 12:00, 12:30, coming down pretty good. by 2:00, three :00, impacting northern greenville, pickens county, oconee county, getting snow until 5:00. parts of the piedmont will see flurries of snow with rain south of i-85 corridor and things quiet down for the evening. it cannot be a big event for the upstate but it continues well into the evening in the mountains, which means we could seek accumulation on higher mountaintops. rain comes in tomorrow afternoon. temperature wise, mid 30's about the best we see for the upstate and the mountains today with clouds and flurries of snow this afternoon.

the upstate and the mountains could be slippery. tomorrow, we see temperatures in the low-to-mid 40 range with rain beginning tomorrow afternoon and likely on friday with cold rain with the 30's for highs. the upstate better on friday, staying cold in the mountainin and getting back to normal sunday temperature wise. allyson: police say a group of militants stormed a university in north-western pakistan today. according to officials, two of the gunmen were killed by security forces after the army moved into the university. other attackers were believed to be at large on the second and third floors of the campus buildings. please say at least to our students and the teacher. officials say 70% of students had been rescued. the debate over whether or not south carolina should accept syrian refugees is underway at the state house. a bill would prevent state agencies from working with refugees programs until the federal government creates stricter security measures. a second bill would require refugees to register with the department of social services. some state senators disagree on
