otherwise, we are talking about a winter storm warning that has been upgraded overnight while you were sleeping for the i-85 corridor, georgia and up to a north carolina and in south carolina with a significant winter storm on the way tonight around 2:00 p.m. with roads being possibly icy as early as six 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. it is currently 34 degrees in downtown greenville, 31 in asheville, 30 in spartanburg, 32 in anderson. partly cloudy skies today, temperatures warming to the middle 40's. ashok starts off at 30 and once up to 43 -- asheville starts off at 30 and warms up to 43. rain moves in overnight tonight and that rain will cool the

-- north of i-85, ice will mix in with snow later tonight. could see, coming up. allyson: two. with black ice the concern, the carolinas and georgia getting the roads ready. myra: aly myles is standing out in the cold and taking a look at the prep good morning. we are in asheville. we drove from greenville to asheville and you can see the amount of solution may have ready to go on the roads. it is pretty impossible to see just how tall this is. i am going to guess at least 30 feet or closer to 40 or 50. they already have so much solution on the roads right now, preparing for whatever else should come in the next day or two. officials say they applied 150,000 gallons of salt brine to major interstates and primary routes yesterday. officials say crews may reapply salt brine today if conditions allow. they say crews will go into

-- i-85 around white horse road, take a look at the accidents around the area with a couple to tell you about. in greenville, accident old lauren road and girls grow pro debt highway 59 and in spartanburg at highway 221, -- and earl's road at highway 59 in spartanburg at highway 221. all of these roads are closed because they are doing construction in the greer area. use main street. travel times on the interstate looking good, but watch out for patches of black ice. let's see how you look at i-385 and haywood road. myra: thank you. chris, everybody was ooing over the snow, but different reaction. chris: there's some will be different because that dreaded board of ice.

possibility of more ice. one model showing upwards of 6/10 of an inch of ice for the greenville and spartanburg area and the lower end of the models showing about 3/10. if you split the difference, it is somewhat around half an inch and that would be damaging for the greenville-spartanburg area. taking a look at the snow model, anywhere from three inches to nine inches, but it does not account for what will fall as ice and it uses up some of that moisture. even if you cut these in half, the low-end would be half an john and i think anywhere from two inches to four inches across the upstate on top of the ice. this is for the northern part of the upstate, north of i-85. for the mountains, pretty much all snow and it ramps up friday into saturday.

this is wmyra: preparing for winter weather here in the southeast. this is a live look at johnson city, tennessee. you can see traffic on the roads and snow. black ice is a big concern this morning. more of your morning weather and traffic, coming up. allyson: new details now on a deadly house fire in pickens. the coroner has identified the victim as 81-year-old kathleen bagwell. this is video from sky 4 over the scene tuesday afternoon. the fire broke out at a home on ann street. there is no word on how the fire started. the coroners says bagwell's body was found in the back of the home. to hart county georgia now, a shooting involving an officer and a man with a machete. deputies say it happened last night on old reed creek road. authorities were called there for a domestic complaint. deputies shot a man after he reportedly confronted them with a machete. that man was taken to the hospital. he will be released into the custody of the sheriff's office. no deputies were injured.

who was shot in the head months ago on the job is now at home. fellow law enforcement officers applauded deputy dave dempsey as he left the roger c peace rehab hospital yesterday. dempsey spent 41 days in the hospital. he's expected to make a full recovery with therapy. dempsey praised a fellow deputy for his actions the night he was shot. >> he stayed in the game and eliminated any further injury that could have occurred easily occurred. his training took over and he was good. allyson: -- myra: charles rosemond was shot to death after investigators say he fired at dempsey. deputies were responding to a robbery call at his apartment. chris: with yesterday's might snowfall, there is black ice in the north carolina mountains, so be careful. a winter storm warning in effect for what is going to fall tonight and on friday.

and make oath the 8:00 hour, rain will mix with freezing rain. freezing rain looks like it is raining outside, but if you go and touch your car and walk on the sidewalk, it is covered in ice. that will be the threat all day in the upstate and north carolina mountains, as it will be freezing rain and sleet all day long on friday. it will change over to snowfall on the backend as cold air rushes in overnight friday and into saturday. before things come to an end, by about lunch in the north carolina mountains on saturday. pretty concerning with three quarters of an inch in the north carolina mountains. for the upstate, rather, for saturday on friday, how much ice we could have. we could cap nine inches of snow on the high-end in the low-end been three inches. snow models are not accounting for what moisture will fall as ice, so if you cut that in half,
