the east coast continue to dig out from feet of snow. conditions in washington, coming up. a live look from our report, coming up. first, a check on the weather. occurring right now along the border. temperatures range from 30 in abbeville and is still cold enough to support ictemperatures of bumped up in the mountains, asheville up for the, 38 in andrews and it will be light rain in north carolina this morning. impact the upstate. temperatures reaching 54 at the upstate high and upper 40's for the mountains. afternoon temperatures will help to get rid of a lot of the ice. we will talk about when the sunny weather begins for the

many school districts are on tallyson: others will stay closed. you'll find them on the ticker below and on tbl app. meanwhile, some parents we saying yesterday, the roads looked fine. you see sky 4 video here showing the roads. greenville county school officials say the number one ason to close or del safety. officials say they have 75,000 students and 10000 e about 10000 of the students have school choice and go to magnet schools. that is sometimes no where near their homes, and many of the teachers also travel far for work. today's delay in greenville county is actually a new process. geoff: wyff news 4's aly myles joins us live from with more on that. aly: happy tuesday, everyone. back to school for greenvillcounty kids today but just a slight delay. the hind me, you can see travelers rest high school and a lot of snow is still on the ground, part of the reason for the delay. and children in greenville county schools that some primary and secondary roads in north greenville county are stil that's why they enacted this new delayed opening process for

schools. again, this is for students who live in these atte that includes students both assigned to these school and those attending other schools on choice. allyson: taking a look at the road conditions greenville , public works and the sc-dot say there e e no reports of any storm. greenville used a salt solution or brine on the roads instead of sand for the first time. studies showed the sand in the past was causing more problems. plus, water run off. city officials say the other reason is because they constantly fix roads as soon as problems were reported. meanwhile, south carolina taxpayers are still footing the bill from last year's winter in terms of pothole damage to cars. in 2015, drivers who submitted damage claims to dot were reimbursed $727,000. the vast majority of those had to do with potholes. you can file a claim with dot if they know about the pothole and failed to fix it. if it's a new pothole not yet reported, officials say it's

repairs. geoff: the highway patrol says this weekend's winter weather played a role in a deadly crash involving a tri-at 44-year-old andy van evera of greer died saturday. friends say he was training for a half-marathon. troopers say van evera was running off the roadway in the direction of a car along highway 14. investigators say the driver of a honda swerved to avoid him but ended up hitting an icy patch of road. >> he was a father to three children and he didn't come back from his run that day, and i think when you look at it like that, it could be any of us out there. geoff: troopers say van evera died at the hospital. to union county now, troopers say the wintery conditions also claimed a life there. the coroner identified the man as 61-year-old jimmy thomas. the wreck happened saturday afternoon on highway 9 close to jonesville. troopers say thomas was heading south when his car veered off the road. he then hit a ditch and a tree.

smith's body was found on january 25, 2015, near sliding rock creek trail. that's not far from smith's home at heritage park. a candlelight vigil was held last night on clark street in the nicholtown community. family members tell us they are still seeking just cobey's death. allyson: in anderson, a 9-year-old was shot inside his home during a drive-by. deputies say no arrests have been made. an incident report says it happened saturday night at a home on crooked creek court. the boy's mother told investigators she was in her bedroom when she heard several gunshots. she says he showed up to her room with a gunshot to the leg. he was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. geoff: this happened last friday. the several people, includinchbusiness when those two armed men this -- when two armed men demanded and stole money. one of the suspects was killed.

north carolina university has been lifted. it was fort winston-salem state near wake forest. it went into effect in 9:30 while they searched for a person with a gun. no shots are reportedly fired. the lockdown was lifted after 1:00 a.m. and they believe the person that campus with twogeoff: a total of 14 cadets are receiving on campus punishment at the c after the group appeared in these photos of the low cases on their heads. the pictures surfaced online late last year and the colt announced the decision yesterday. allyson: the first witnesses appeared in court. a political science expert testified, saying there is no evidence of voter fraud. the state attorney claims about a voter id, a poll worker cannot write a voter. they say the law discriminates against african-american and voters.
