nigel: authorities in washington, d.c. have handed out more than $1 million in fines for parking. this, after declaring a snow emergency. the washington post reports, as of wednesday aftony has issued more than 5,000 tickets. all this, during the city's parking ban during the snowf those cost the owner $250. the city also towed nearly 700 vehicles. not counting the towing fees, the fines total just over $1.3 million. gabrielle: uber has plans to improve ride feedback for drivers and riders. the company says it will start usg smart phones to check whether its drivers are speeding. the program will use a smartphone's gyrometers, gps, and accelerometers to record data, and that data will be used to verify feedback from riders. in a company blog post this week, uber's chief security officer wrote, "if a rider complains that a driver accelerated too fast and broke too hard, we can review that trip using data.
