an upstate school district will have the meeting this morning, looking for public on about downsizing. allyson: anderson school district 4 superintendent joanne avery says there's been little growth in the district during the past 10 she says going from six schools to five would save up to $1.5 million a year. there are two options. one, turn pendleton elementary into a middle school. this would call for mount lebanon. option two, move riverside middle to mount lebanon elementary. there's a public meeting this morning at 9:00 a.m. at mount lebanon elementary. happening today and throughout the weekend,dirt to get ready for the monster jam. it is happening this weekend and it will get loud at the bon secours wellness arena. geoff: loud is an understatement. let's get life-- let's get with aly myles. aly: the bon secours wellness arena looking different.

in the upstate, 40 in the mountains and 60's this weekend with sunshine both days. week, we will be warm enough for it to the even a few thunderstorms across the area. nothing too severe at home. we will cool down next thursday into friday, back to temperatures near 50 degrees thank you. in spartanburg school district five, a history-making electric violinist made for a lesson that really rocked. mark wood, one of the original members of the trans-siberian orchestra, taught students at the district five fine arts center yesterday. wood says he invented the first electric violin in history. wood and the students will put on a rock concert tonight at the district five fine arts center in spartanburg county. geoff: united way of greenville unty held a big celebration at the td convention center. celebrating a big number. this year's campaign raised more than $16.7 million. and more than 11000 volunteers and supporters came to cheer

the awards ceremony is to thank the greenville county companies and organizations that raised money for the united way in 2015. allyson: hundreds packed into an upstate church to eat lunch for a good cause. it was grace episcopal's annual soup luncheon in anderson yesterday. for $7, people got a bowl of soup, cornbread a dessert, and drink. the church usually raises around $7,000 during the event and this 110 gallons of soup were -- $7,000 during the event and this year, all the money is going to meals on wheels of anderson. 110 gallons of soup were prepared by about 75 volunteers at the church. geoff: gearing up for the super bowl, and that includes linebacker thomas davis who's nursing a broken arm from the nfc championship game. one tough football player. davis actual yesterday though he was limited in what he did. davis says he will play an not concerned about reinjuring his arm. he said if he was concerned, he wouldn't be taking the trip to the super bowl. >> i'm going out there to play
