let's look at the ingredients that have to come together during an el nio year. the cold air clashing with warm. the key is, you have the very strong southerly jet that gets the winds to circulate in the atmosphere. due to the strong wind coming out of the south, the atmosphere is rotated and you get a little t of rotation, which can cause tornadoes. el nio years have a higher risk of severe weather. over the past 30 years, 17 of them have been el nio years. when you look at those compared to la nina years, we double the amount of tornadoes. 154 compared to 82. we will be on guard this spring, watching for severe weather. el nio seasons tend to limit the hurricane season. if el nio hangs on, good news headed into the summer. we will keep you posted. carol: our team is tracking the weather 20 47 on our mobile app. you can download it for free from the app store.
