-- patrick: since tuesday's fifth place finish in the new hampshire primary, senator rubio is taking no chances here as he canvases south carolina with a message to voters. and on the way to one of those rallies, we were invited onboard the rubio tour bus where we had a chance to talk about that message. sanator rubio: our country is struggling right now in manufacturing, but south carolina's growing. you have boeing, michelin, bmw, all these businesses that are coming here and making things here. patrick: looking ahead to greenville, rubio talked about how he plan's to deal with front-runner donald trump. sanator rubio: it's been hard to point out policy differences with donald because he doesn't outline any policy. he's running on message, on attitude, not on policy. i think that's gonna change. it's gonna have to change. patrick: some have pitted rubio against jeb bush in south carolina where bush once led in the polls. their relationship spans 20 years. how has that changed in the last year? sanator rubio: well we can't talk as often as we once did because we're running for the same position right now, so it makes that harder. but personally, i have tremendous esteem for him as a person,

soul is just one choice. if you have that view, the choice that will create the greatest possibility for families, to be loving and wholesome and that children have now a right to succeed then -- a chance to succeed then , you're being judgemental. so there's always that challenge. sanator rubio: we shouldn't have any policies that are anti-family. we have a tax code that punishes marriage but punishes child formation. that's why i have an increase in the child tax credit. senator cruz: i do think government policies have contributed to the breakdown of families. you look at government policies, for example our broken welfare system. you're doing nobody a favor when gvernment policies penalize marriage. make it that you get more money staying single mom than you do if you marry the father of your child. michael: all 4 of those candidates will challenge each other on the debate stage tomorrow at the peace center. carol: before going to

cruz also talked about how this election will shape the future in terms of the supreme court. the new president will likely appoint justices. michael: meanwhile, donald trump has threatened to sue senator ted cruz for "not being a natural born citizen." in a tweet, trump wrote "if ted cruz doesn't clean up his act, stop cheating and doing negative ads, i have standing to sue him for not being a natural born citizen." trump has said if cruz wins the republican nomination, democrats would argue the senator is ineligible for the presidency. carol: meanwhile, john kasich was in columbia today. he spoke during a chamber of commerce event in the state capital. the ohio governor says he has momentum in south carolina. kasich says his campaign has had to scramble to find bigger venues in the palmetto state. he hopes that message resonates with voters. michael: the republican field is smaller tonight. jim gilmore has decided to suspend his campaign. gilmore didn't even break 1% of the vote in the new hampshire
