town on saturday, primary night, but they are deciding on a venue they can hold the crowd. if you would like to hear the entire interview, go to wyff4.com and you can find it there. carol: more than 1,000 people packed the west end community center in downtown greenville to hear former president bill clinton speak. he was in town to support his wife. michael: wyff news 4's nigel robertson was there. he joins us now with more. nigel: former president clinton was here just a few days ago, and got such a great response from the upstate that he asked to come back today. it was a packed house, and people only found out about it yesterday evening. he, of course, is here campaigning for his wife, hillary. the energy in the crowd was thick. voters of all ages, of all races, here to hear a former president, and rally the base to vote for hillary clinton. >> well, i'm calling all of my friends to come out. i am, because i think it's well worth it.

there is so much negativity with this election, especially on the republican side. nigel: clinton talked about immigration, gun control, and spoke directly to young people. >> she never gives up, and she won't give up on you. and she knows, if we are going to go into the future together, we've got to have shared prosperity equal opportunity, , and inclusiveness communities. if that is what you want, she is your candidate. nigel: affordable education was another big topic. in fact, before this greenville stop, clinton was in spartanburg, touring spartanburg community college and seeing what the school does firsthand. >> america ought to work like a community college works. think about it. there is no discrimination based on race or gender or sexual orientation. it's open to everybody. you learn something, where you can get a good job, at a good wage, and disputes are resolved by the community. it's the way america ought to work.

not just about hillary. >> and i like bernie, i really do. but i'm sure you've heard this before. what happens if trump wins the nomination? nigel: he and others say they want the strongest democrat to face a possible trump nomination. former president clinton agrees. >> i am telling you, from the first time i met her, to yesterday, she is the best change maker i have ever known. nigel: if you vote in the republican primary this saturday, you cannot vote in the democratic primary the week after. again, the democratic primary, is february 27th. carol: ohio governor john kasich a day stop in the upstate today. the republican candidate addressed a clap -- a crowd of several hundred people in greenville county. he said as president, he will cut taxes, balance the budget, and it eliminate regulations that hurt small businesses. >> when government at all levels

upstate, according to the south carolina highway patrol. at least four of them were deadly. the coroner says 17-year-old lauryn agnew of easley died after a head-on collision in greenville. the crash happened on verdae boulevard, just before 8:30 last night. troopers say agnew's car hit an icy patch, crossed the center line, and hit a tow truck. agnew was a senior at southside high school. carol: also in greenville, one person died, and three others went to the hospital, as a result of two back-to-back wrecks. troopers say 28-year-old clayborn jester was standing at the site of a crash on i-385 when another vehicle hit him, forcing him ovov the retaining wall and down an embankment. police say a greenville officer responding to the first crash was one of the people injured. michael: a taylors woman died from injuries this morning, after a crash on state park road that happened yesterday. the coroner say 68-year-old dorethea drummond's suv hit another suv head-on around 3:45 monday afternoon. highway patrol is still investigating this. carol: this morning in walhalla, a woman died after crashing on an icy road.

63-year-old judy tilson wrecked just before 6:00 a.m. on highway 11. the coroner says she was on the way to work when she crashed. >> and i literally, in slow motion, saw the car go this way and that and it hit the curb and it flipped.
