[applause] jeb: thanks for being here, mama. tim: it was bush and his mom at the kroc center in greenville and a promise to voters on this day before the primary. jeb: i'm the guy that can beat hillary clinton because i have a proven record. tim: a bold promise as bush, who finished 4th in new hampshire, trails trump, cruz, and rubio in the latest south carolina polls. today, the former governor of florida had choice words for the presumed frontrunner in this race. jeb: donald trump -- man, insulting women, hispanics, the disabled, p.o.w.s like john mccain is a loser because he got caught. john mccain and the hundreds of p.o.w.s are american heroes. they're deserving of our respect. [applause] tim: his mother, barbara, now 90-years-old, never spoke at the rally, but was popular with

later i asked bush what he thought when his longtime friend, governor nikki haley, endorsed marco rubio instead of him. jeb: well, i was disappointed, because she's a friend and a popular political figure. it's had no impact yet on the race, at least in the polling. we're within striking distance of second place. tim: i asked bush what it means for his campaign if he doesn't win tomorrow. he said we'll just have to wait and see. tim waller, wyff news 4, greenville. gabrielle: here's a look at where the other gop candidates spent the day before the primary. according to the south carolina republican party, all of them were stumping in parts of south carolina today. ted cruz made stops in myrtle beach and charleston. congressman mark sanford announced his endorsement of cruz during that rally in charleston today. later tonight, cruz will be in greenville. marco rubio was in columbia, pawleys island, hilton head island, and charleston. later tonight he will hold a rally in clemson. donald trump spent time in myrtle beach. later he'll be in north

john kasich was in columbia and conway. tonight he will hold a rally in mount pleasant. and doctor ben carson was in north charleston and florence. nigel: "a good turnout." that is what the greenville county elections director said about the number of people voting absentee. we asked a number of people about the line and about their feelings now that their vote has been cast. the lines were not long. >> was not bad. about 10 minutes long. >> it was very nice today. i was probably in line for about five minutes. it was quick and easy. nigel: both republicans and democrats voting absentee. the election office has more than five allen -- 5000 ballots turned in, which any primary year is "a good number." some of voters did not mind telling us who they voted for. [laughter] >> i voted for hillary. >> i'm voting for ted cruz.

everything that he says, pretty much i agree with. >> i voted for marco rubio. finally we are getting the list down to the point where you can learn something about the different candidates. nigel: what everyone agreed on is that there is a sense of relief for them now that they are part of the process -- that their part of the process is done. >> it was order to make that decision -- harder to make that decision and i thought it would be. >> there have been a lot of things said that have voted hostility -- promoted hostility. i think it is finer that we disagree, but we have to be civil in our disagreement. nigel: absentee voting for the gop primary is now finished. if you are voting in the until 5:00 p.m. eight to get your absentee vote. your absentee vote in.

hillary clinton and bernie nevada. both are going after the state's latino vote. sen. sanders: my immigration policy is to unite families, not to divide families. mrs. clinton: i was the first person to call out donald trump. i said, basta. enough of this prejudice and paranoia. nigel: hillary clinton and donald trump are still leading nationally in the polls, but clinton's lead has been cut in half in just the last month. gabrielle: and hillary clinton picked up a major endorsement today. south carolina congressman jim clyburn endorsed hillary clinton for president today. clyburn, the highest-ranking african-american in congress, made the announcement at allen university in columbia. rep. clyburn: but in spite of how it may sound sometimes, campaigns are and should be about the future. and i believe that the future of the democratic party and the united states of america will be best served with the experiences

as our 45th president. gabrielle: south carolina's democratic primary is next saturday, february 27. nigel: now to the weather. let's take a live look outside at what is happening right now, through our woodruff road sky cam, it is friday and people are heading home. gabrielle: and the sun is shining, so can't complain. john cessarich i iin the studio tracking the latest. is it going to be a nice evening? john: absolutely. if you are heading out anywhere, it will be in good shape. increasing clouds from the northwest. this weekend will get interesting. i will talk about more interest the second. 45 in boone in the chilly spot. but most people reading the 60's. 64 in abbeville. 61 in dakoa. not too bad. future plus cold front slowly losing from the northwest. a few showers possible in the

not as cold as in recent nights. more clouds in the upstate, but a slight chance of showers at six clark on saturday. as the front gets closer on the tennessee-north carolina line, on sunday, may be a batch of heavy showers in the afternoon, possibly thundershowers. they march off to the east. it will at least be mild for the weekend. but chris, after that, it gets really ugly. chris: we have been watching that. it looks like it will be wintry for most of us. we have been watching this low back towards the south. as we head into monday, it will be a cool rain. that turns into a downright chilly rain into tuesday. all thanks to this high-pressure to the north. it will lock in cold air. that keeps us chili, but not cold. that means it will fall as liquid for most of us tuesday into wednesday. as we look at the washout index, isolated showers on saturday, scattered on sunday.

gabrielle: we are learning more about the man that was killed in powdersville in a crash yesterday morning. he just happened to be on the road at the same time that deputies were chasing another man in another car. wyff news 4's corey davis spoke to the fiancee of the man who

corey: 62-year-old stephen burnett was a truck driver for gbs lumber supply here in mauldin. his fiancee told us they met while working for the company, and now she's just taking it one day at a time. >> he's gone. i can't ever get him back. corey: overcome by the death of her fiancee, debbie blair says she doesn't know what she's going to do. >> i didn't expect for him to be gone when he left for work yesterday morning. corey: burnett was on his way to pick up his truck from penske on whitehorse road when he was hit by a car that was being chased by greenville county deputies. this is how it all ended. at intersection of highway 153 and highway 81, burnett's pickup truck crumpled. the coroner says he died on impact. >> he drove an 18 wheeler for a living. just freaky that he went that way. corey: she says he never got a

>> he loves to feed critters. corey: they were together for 10 years. she was a over after losing her husband in 2002. >> i thought he was just being nice. i didn't know he was interested in me. corey: now blair says she's going to take it one day at a time with love and support from her family. burnett will be laid to rest sunday. dexter reeves, the man who deputies say crashed into burnett was denied bond today. a community group called fighting injustice together released a statement on behalf of reeve's mother sending her condolences to burnett's family. corey davis, wyff news 4, live in mauldin. nigel: corey, thank you very much. an update now to a story from yesterday. many viewers were outraged after watching video of the suspects accused of killing an easley teen at a bowling alley.

dennis gibbs turned to our camera in court and asked people to follow them on social media. pickens county chief deputy creed hashe told wyff news 4 today that inmates have no access to computers or cell phones in the detention center. the only way they could post on social media is if they call someone from the jail and have that person post for them. the 3 suspects, along with a 15-year-old, are accused of shooting 17-year-old kejuan brown at the tri-city lanes bowling alley in easley. gabrielle: happening now, officers are investigating the theft of prescription narcotics from an update high school. it happened at crescent high school in iva. anderson school district officials say a nurse noticed some missing medicine earlier this month. town officials say warrants have been issued for the arrest of a woman. right now, we do not know that woman's name, but police say she was a substitute teacher. school officials say she no

nigel: a shooting reported in anderson county, but deputies haven't found a victim. the call came in about a shooting in the parking lot of quality foods on the 28 bypass. officers weren't able to find a victim or a suspect. investigators checked area hospitals to see if anyone with a gunshot wound was taken into the e.r. so far, they haven't found anyone. gabrielle: a greenville county school bus was involved in a crash this morning. school officals say there were 9 students from fork shoals elementary school on the bus when it got rear-ended on higway 25 near clark road. no students were injured, but the bus driver was transported by ems to be checked out. and the driver of the car was injured and airlifted to the hospital. we spoke to kathy williams, lives nearby. >> i called a neighbor of ours. she told me they were getting ready to airlifted the victim. all i could do was think about, dear lord, what this person be ok. i watched them put them in a

i did get to see that. i am just praying that they are ok. gabrielle: she says this is the second accident in this area this week. a man and his dog died after an early morning fire in spartanburg. the man has been identified as 69-year-old roger andre coats. it happened on summerland drive around 5:00 a.m. wyff news 4's aly myles reports from the scene. aly: across the street from the fire, jessica pifer woke up to a honking horn and saw this. >> i immediately grabbed my phone and called 911 and i tried to run into the house. i did run to the house but smoke was already coming out the front door. aly: officials say the majority of the damage in a bedroom. they believe the victim and his dog died trying to escape the fire. pifer says her neighbor was a quiet man, hardworking and kind. >> he went to work every day. we always news when it was going to be bad, he would have a rough

32% humidity in greenville. 37% in asheville. with the dry air in place, it will take a while for this moisture to come in. i have only a sprinkle or a slight chance of a shower because the air will be dry. that is for tomorrow, but he better chance in the mountains. here's the front slowly moving in. another batch of snow. rain showers of the upper midwest. a big storm system out west. this will affect us early next week. chris and i were talking about that earlier. big ridge in the upper atmosphere, bringing warm temperatures into kansas city at 70. 75 in oklahoma city. 78 in dallas. but chilly in a northwest and cold in the northwest -- in the northeast. clear skies and cloudy late in the upstate. low 42 degrees. clouds in the increase in the mountains.

7 hours a night. anything less than that has been linked to a variety of health problems, like diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. based on a review of data, the centers for disease control reports 1 in 3 adults does not get enough sleep. this was especially true among african americans and people living here in the southeastern region of the united states. about one in five americans visits the emergency room each year. now a new report reveals the reasons why. 77% of adults of who went to the e.r. in 2014 said they needed treatment for a serious medical condition. 12% chose the emergency room because their doctor's office was not open, and 7% said they had no other health provider. medicaid patients were most likely to seek emergency care for serious symptoms, while uninsured adults tended to use the e.r. for less urgent problems. >> thousands honor the late justice antonin scully in washington.

every private polo, public polls have been showing it. but the pope's spat with him on immigration -- i talked to the other campaigns, they are petrified of it for this region. they think it helps trump, that it stopped his slide. why? it put him back on message, talking about immigration. the history of this campaign has been anytime trumpet talk about immigration, no matter how controversial it has been, it has solidified his support with his base. it may have angered him down in first place. we are in a battle for second. the pressure is on marco rubio. he has every major endorsement in south carolina short of lindsey graham and the late strong cement. it's not good enough for second-place, he's throwing it all on the line. he's hoping to surpass cruz that make this a three-person race. if he doesn't, this becomes trump versus cruz quickly. nigel: let's talk about the evangelical vote.
