later i asked bush what he thought when his longtime friend, governor nikki haley, endorsed marco rubio instead of him. jeb: well, i was disappointed, because she's a friend and a popular political figure. it's had no impact yet on the race, at least in the polling. we're within striking distance of second place. tim: i asked bush what it means for his campaign if he doesn't win tomorrow. he said we'll just have to wait and see. tim waller, wyff news 4, greenville. gabrielle: here's a look at where the other gop candidates spent the day before the primary. according to the south carolina republican party, all of them were stumping in parts of south carolina today. ted cruz made stops in myrtle beach and charleston. congressman mark sanford announced his endorsement of cruz during that rally in charleston today. later tonight, cruz will be in greenville. marco rubio was in columbia, pawleys island, hilton head island, and charleston. later tonight he will hold a rally in clemson. donald trump spent time in myrtle beach. later he'll be in north

john kasich was in columbia and conway. tonight he will hold a rally in mount pleasant. and doctor ben carson was in north charleston and florence. nigel: "a good turnout." that is what the greenville county elections director said about the number of people voting absentee. we asked a number of people about the line and about their feelings now that their vote has been cast. the lines were not long. >> was not bad. about 10 minutes long. >> it was very nice today. i was probably in line for about five minutes. it was quick and easy. nigel: both republicans and democrats voting absentee. the election office has more than five allen -- 5000 ballots turned in, which any primary year is "a good number." some of voters did not mind telling us who they voted for. [laughter] >> i voted for hillary. >> i'm voting for ted cruz.

everything that he says, pretty much i agree with. >> i voted for marco rubio. finally we are getting the list down to the point where you can learn something about the different candidates. nigel: what everyone agreed on is that there is a sense of relief for them now that they are part of the process -- that their part of the process is done. >> it was order to make that decision -- harder to make that decision and i thought it would be. >> there have been a lot of things said that have voted hostility -- promoted hostility. i think it is finer that we disagree, but we have to be civil in our disagreement. nigel: absentee voting for the gop primary is now finished. if you are voting in the until 5:00 p.m. eight to get your absentee vote. your absentee vote in.

corey: 62-year-old stephen burnett was a truck driver for gbs lumber supply here in mauldin. his fiancee told us they met while working for the company, and now she's just taking it one day at a time. >> he's gone. i can't ever get him back. corey: overcome by the death of her fiancee, debbie blair says she doesn't know what she's going to do. >> i didn't expect for him to be gone when he left for work yesterday morning. corey: burnett was on his way to pick up his truck from penske on whitehorse road when he was hit by a car that was being chased by greenville county deputies. this is how it all ended. at intersection of highway 153 and highway 81, burnett's pickup truck crumpled. the coroner says he died on impact. >> he drove an 18 wheeler for a living. just freaky that he went that way. corey: she says he never got a

dennis gibbs turned to our camera in court and asked people to follow them on social media. pickens county chief deputy creed hashe told wyff news 4 today that inmates have no access to computers or cell phones in the detention center. the only way they could post on social media is if they call someone from the jail and have that person post for them. the 3 suspects, along with a 15-year-old, are accused of shooting 17-year-old kejuan brown at the tri-city lanes bowling alley in easley. gabrielle: happening now, officers are investigating the theft of prescription narcotics from an update high school. it happened at crescent high school in iva. anderson school district officials say a nurse noticed some missing medicine earlier this month. town officials say warrants have been issued for the arrest of a woman. right now, we do not know that woman's name, but police say she was a substitute teacher. school officials say she no

nigel: a shooting reported in anderson county, but deputies haven't found a victim. the call came in about a shooting in the parking lot of quality foods on the 28 bypass. officers weren't able to find a victim or a suspect. investigators checked area hospitals to see if anyone with a gunshot wound was taken into the e.r. so far, they haven't found anyone. gabrielle: a greenville county school bus was involved in a crash this morning. school officals say there were 9 students from fork shoals elementary school on the bus when it got rear-ended on higway 25 near clark road. no students were injured, but the bus driver was transported by ems to be checked out. and the driver of the car was injured and airlifted to the hospital. we spoke to kathy williams, lives nearby. >> i called a neighbor of ours. she told me they were getting ready to airlifted the victim. all i could do was think about, dear lord, what this person be ok. i watched them put them in a

i did get to see that. i am just praying that they are ok. gabrielle: she says this is the second accident in this area this week. a man and his dog died after an early morning fire in spartanburg. the man has been identified as 69-year-old roger andre coats. it happened on summerland drive around 5:00 a.m. wyff news 4's aly myles reports from the scene. aly: across the street from the fire, jessica pifer woke up to a honking horn and saw this. >> i immediately grabbed my phone and called 911 and i tried to run into the house. i did run to the house but smoke was already coming out the front door. aly: officials say the majority of the damage in a bedroom. they believe the victim and his dog died trying to escape the fire. pifer says her neighbor was a quiet man, hardworking and kind. >> he went to work every day. we always news when it was going to be bad, he would have a rough

every private polo, public polls have been showing it. but the pope's spat with him on immigration -- i talked to the other campaigns, they are petrified of it for this region. they think it helps trump, that it stopped his slide. why? it put him back on message, talking about immigration. the history of this campaign has been anytime trumpet talk about immigration, no matter how controversial it has been, it has solidified his support with his base. it may have angered him down in first place. we are in a battle for second. the pressure is on marco rubio. he has every major endorsement in south carolina short of lindsey graham and the late strong cement. it's not good enough for second-place, he's throwing it all on the line. he's hoping to surpass cruz that make this a three-person race. if he doesn't, this becomes trump versus cruz quickly. nigel: let's talk about the evangelical vote.
