temperatures in the 50's this morning. very mild for this time of the year. 40's for the mountains. they won't climb a lot with persistent cloud cover today. anywhere from 62-64 for the update -- upstate. for the mountains of north carolina, it will drop a little bit and rebound into the 50's were the afternoon. 56-57. we will talk more about what the rest of the week and weekend looks like in a few minutes. patrick: turning to this morning's headlines. in pickens county. an investigation is underway after a fisherman found the body of a woman who'd been shot. allyson: officals say the fisherman called for help yesterday after seeing the body on a boat ramp off buckskin road near saluda lake. investigators say 35-year-old farah khan of townville had severe trauma to the head from what appeared to be a gunshot. if you have any information that would help investigators, call crime e oppers at 1-888-crime-sc. patrick: the army national guard are helping anderson county deputies look for evidence in a

the crime happened about 5 weeks ago near pierce and amy road. officals say there is a possiblity that evidence from the homicides may be located along highway 184 near iva elementry school the search spanned four miles. and deputies asked members of the national guard and the state guard to help out, as they trained this weekend. there is no word on if officals found anything during yesterday's search. allyson: commitment 2016 coverage now. the democrats already making their way to south carolina. patrick: the first rally was held not even 24 hours after the last republican candidate left the palmetto state. wyff news 4's aly myles joins us live from the bon secours wellness arena in downtown greenville. aly: we have had a lot of republican covers. now it is the democratstsurn. thousands coming to the wellness arena yesterday to see democratic candidate bernie sanders here yesterday evening. this is just the beginning for

sanders is trying to rebound after losing the nevada caucus this past weekend to hillary clinton. the people in attendance were energized along with bernie sanders himself. bernie sanders: if you look at national polls and you want a candidate who is going to defeat donald trump, you're looking at that candidate. aly: sanders is trying to inspire supporters to get out to the polls on saturday. hillary clinton also lending her voice to the upstate. on friday she called the kelly mac show on jamz. 107.3hillary clinton increase : investment in jobs, education and healthcare, and will also continue all i can to counter systemic racism to create opportunities in all communities. aly: just as cnn did with the republican presidential candidates. there will also be a town hall for the democratic hopefuls. cnn's chris cuomo will moderate the event on tuesday.

aly myles, wyff news four live of the bon secours wellness arena. patrick: another big week in the upstate as far as commanded the 2016. republican presidential across the country. they'll all end up in nevada this tuesday. that's when the state will hold its republican caucus. donald trump won the gop south carolina primary. senators marco rubio and ted cruz finished in a virtual tie. ohio governor john kasich and ben carson finished the lowest in the polls. and jeb bush suspended his campaign for president after a disappointing finish. allyson: again here's the line up. the republicans will hold their nevada caucus this tuesday. and on saturday south carolina democrats will hold their primary. a week later, it's super tuesday, when the twelve states highlighted in yellow will vote on march 1. patrick: and a reminder for another look at the primary results. you can can dowload our wyff 4 moblie app, we have the complete numbers from south carolina and look at the breakdown county-by-county.

hendersonville say they're having a problem with sick raccoons. the animals appear to be drunk. in the past couple of weeks, crews have been dispatched for 5 different sick raccoons displaying signs of distemper. polili say they appear wobbly and even quite friendly. >> they almost act like they're drunk. they'll be very unsteady on their feet. they'll literally walk up to people. they don't seem aggressive at all, to the point where they'll walk up and someone can actually touch them. patrick: distemper is veryy contagious and deadly and there is no cure. allyson: police say people with pets should make sure their vaccines are up to date. north carolina has reported its first case of the zika virus. health officials confirmed the case in an adult who traveled to a country with an ongoing zika virus outbreak. that person has since recovered. the virus is usually spread through mosquito bites. so far, there are no transmission cases in the u.s. beyond a possible sexual transmission in texas. patrick: also in north carolina.

the mumps. and health officials say the cases are related. mumps is contagious virus that is spread by drops of saliva or mucus. symptoms include fever, headache, loss of appetite, muscle aches, and tenderness or swelling of glands below the ears. there is currently no treatment vaccines that reduce the chances of getting the mumps. allyson: a door-to-door dash to the checkered flag ended in an historic photo finish at the daytona 500 on sunday. patrick: with one lap to go, denny hamlin wedged between matt kenseth and martin truex junior in what people are calling a miracle. hamlin and truex raced to the finish line. after further review, a photo finish determined that hamlin edged him out by one 100th of a the closest finish in daytona second, 500 history. this is hamlin's first time in victory lane at the great american race and the win ended team owner joe gibbs' 23-year daytona 500 drought. there it is.

allyson: we were watching that yesterday. there was also a pretty bad wreck. patrick: huge finish, there. allyson: that was awesome. dale, not so this week. we are looking at a lot of rain. dale: the first half of the week will be wet. starting in the mountains of north carolina, we will show you what live super doppler 4 hd is in a moment. 59 degrees and cloudy. it will be caught before the upstate. temperatures have been mild overnight with cloud cover. we haven't seen chilly temperatures that would normally expect this time of the year. here, we can see rain in asheville back for the tennessee line. affecting the northern half of the mountains right along the i 40 corridor. not much going on in the upstate. one or two's wrinkles the mountains of south carolina, northern greenville county. by this afternoon, it will be more widespread. heavier rain expected overnight tonight through the day tomorrow.

carowinds. going back to the old neighborhood can be hard sometimes. walls have been built invisibly around the old neighborhood and that police brutality is used to keep folks hemmed in, and frankly, opportunity locked out. i spent my entire life in the civil rights movement. i came up in the naacp like my mom came up in the naacp, like my father came up with the congress of racial equality, like bernie sanders came up with the congress of racial equality. black lives matter. we need to combat institutional racism from top to bottom in a broken criminal justice system. i'm supporting bernie sanders for president and all of us who have joined this campaign are there for the same reason. he's always fought for a populus position of let's fight for all our families as if they are our own. i'm bernie sanders and i approve this message.

columbia police say two men allyson: in columbia, police say two men started shooting at a mall with hundreds of shoppers. investigators are now working to figure out whether the shooting was gang related. it happened at the columbiana mall saturday night. officers say two men were fighting and then a third men got involved. investigators say two of the men pulled out guns shot into the air and then took off. no one was injured in the shooting. police have not identified the shooters but believe the two men are between the age of 20 and 25-years-old. a man in gastonia says he was able to get out of his burning home, thanks to his dog. the dog started barking, and that's what woke up the man, just after 12:30 yesterday morning.

they realized smokeless coming from the back of the home. the fire was in the kitchen area. officials say an electrical malfunction in the home heating system caused the fire. firefighters say the home, did not have a working a smoke alarm. patrick: troopers near raleigh, north carolina say a driver will likely be charged for hitting four bicyclists. the crash happened saturday in johnston county. troopers say the bicyclists were hit from behind by a ford crown victoria. all 4 were thrown from their bikes. two are in critical condition right now. the daughter of the driver told reporters that her mom came over a hill and didn't see the bicyclists until it was too late. plenty of strong-willed taxpayers say they are going to save their tax refunds.

today. the 45-year-old uber driver, who's married with two children, has no criminal record. investigators have no motive. allyson: bill cosby's wife camille is scheduled to give her deposition in a defamation suit against him this morning. the comedian's attorneys are still fighting to stop it. the deposition is expected happen ahead at 9:00 a.m. eastern in springfield, massachusetts. eight women have sued bill cosby for defamation. they claim he portrayed them as liars, after they publicly accused him of sexually assaulting them. they're among 50 women who have leveled sexual misconduct allegations against cosby. he denies any wrongdoing. cosby faces separate criminal charges of sexual assault in pennsylvania. the supreme court hears cases today for the first time since the death of associate justice antonin scalia. the court is now evenly split ideologically among its 8 members. president obama plans to nominate a replacement, over the objection of republicans who say

successor. patrick: a cyclone in fiji killed 18 people and destroyed hundreds of homes. officials say over 6000 people are now in shelters there. authorities imposed a curfew because of the damage, they also declare a month-long state of disaster. wind speeds from the cyclone, were estimated at 177 miles per hour. officials say this is the strongest tropical cyclone to hit fiji in recorded history. it was just an average day at work for a greenwood police officer until he came upon an injured dog in the middle of the road. wes walker took a report last tuesday of a missing dog and hours later walker spotted a dog matching that same descrition lying in the road along reynolds avenue. walker stopped his patrol car to check on the animal. he said the dog appeared to have its two rear legs injured. so officer walker got down eye-to-eye with the animal to keep it calm until help arrived the dog was treated at the animal shelter and released back to its owner. allyson: south carolina

that could increase the state's minimum wage. one bill would set the state's minimum wage at $10 and $.10 an hour. right now south carolina is , among 21 states where employers can pay $7.25 an hour. the federal minimum. the other bill would repeal the state's right-to-work status. patrick: what's old will be new again, at carowinds. if you plan on visiting the park this summer, you'll be able to enjoy rides that were popular years ago. our affiliate in charlotte, is reporting that carowinds will debut a few refurbished vintage rides. the park is hoping to bring back memories that parents can share with their children. that won't be the only change at the park, the carolina harbor waterpark will open in may. allyson: good news for most of us. gas prices continue to drop according to the lombard survey. the average price for a gallon of gas is $1.77, down a nickel from two weeks ago, and 56 cents below the price of gas one year
