if you have any information that would help investigators, call crime stoppers at 1-888-crime-sc. patrick: the search for clues in anderson county. the national guard helped anderson county deputies look for evidence in a double homicide case. the crime happened about five weeks ago near pierce and amy road. officials say there is a possibility that evidence from the homicides may be located along highway 184 near iva elementary school. deputies asked members of the national guard and the state guard to help out as they trained this weekend. there is no word on if officials found anything during the search. allyson: covering our commitment 2016 now, the democrats already making their way to south carolina. patrick: the first rally was held not even 24 hours after the last republican candidate left the palmetto state. wyff news 4's aly myles joins us live from the bon secours wellness arena in downtown greenville. aly: good morning, guys.

not the case yesterday when thousands of bernie sanders supporters came out here and listened to what he had to say. just the beginning for south carolina. bernie sanders is trying to rebound after losing the nevada caucus this past weekend to hillary clinton. the people in attendance were energized along with bernie sanders himself. sen. sanders: if you look at national polls and you want a candidate who is going to defeat donald trump, you're looking at that candidate. aly: sanders is trying to inspire supporters to get out to the polls on saturday. clinton also lending her voice to the upstate. on friday, she called the kelly mac show on 107.3 jamz. sec. clinton: increase investment in jobs, education, and healthcare, and will also continue to do all i can to counter systemic racism to create opportunities in all communities. aly: just as cnn did with the republican presidential hopefuls there will also be a , town hall for the democratic hopefuls.

complete numbers from south carolina and a breakdown county by county. allyson: people in hendersonville say they're having a problem with sick raccoons. the animals appear to be drunk. in the past couple of weeks, crews have been dispatched to five different sick raccoons displaying the signs of distemper. police say they appear wobbly and even quite friendly. >> they almost act like they're drunk. they'll be very unsteady on their feet. they'll literally walk up to people. they don't seem aggressive at all to the point where they'll walk up and someone can actually touch them. allyson: distemper is very contagious and deadly, and there is no cure. police say people with pets should make sure their vaccines are up to date. north carolina has reported its first case of the zika virus. officials with the health department say the case was confirmed in an adult who traveled to a country with an ongoing zika virus outbreak. that person has since recovered. the virus is usually spread through mosquito bites. so far, there are no transmission cases in the u.s. beyond a possible sexual transmission in texas. patrick: also in north carolina,

the mumps. health officials say the cases are related. mumps is contagious virus that is spread by drops of saliva or mucus. symptoms include fever, headache, loss of appetite, muscle aches, and tenderness or swelling of glands below the ears. there is currently no treatment for it, but there are two vaccines that reduce the chances of getting the mumps. allyson: if you do not catch the end of the daytona 500 yesterday, a historic photo finish. patrick: i hate that i missed it. with one lap to go, denny hamlin wedged between matt kenseth and martin truex, jr., in what people are calling a miracle. hamlin and truex raced to the finish line. after further review, a photo finish determined that hamlin edged out truex by one one-hundreth of a second the . that is the closest finish in daytona 500 history. this is hamlin's first time in victory lane at the great american race. the win ended team owner joe

allyson: we have some breaking news for you. firefighters are on the scene of a fire. one person was in the apartment attached to the building but got out fine. we will continue to bring you updates information continues to roll in. patrick: a michigan man accused of killing six people in a random shooting spree is expected in court today. investigators in kalamazoo say jason dalton chose victims at random saturday night. he shot people outside an apartment complex, a car dealership, and a restaurant over nearly seven hours. six people died, and two others, including a 14-year-old girl, were seriously injured. dalton is expected to be arraigned on murder charges today. the 45-year-old uber driver, who's married with two children, has no criminal record. investigators have no motive. allyson: bill cosby's wife camille is scheduled to give her deposition in a defamation suit

the comedian's attorneys are still fighting to stop it. the deposition is expected to happen around 9:00 a.m. eastern in springfield, massachusetts. eight women have sued bill cosby for defamation. they claim he portrayed them as liars after they publicly accused him of sexually assaulting them. they're among 50 women who have leveled sexual misconduct allegations against cosby. he denies any wrongdoing. cosby faces separate criminal charges of sexual assault in pennsylvania. the supreme court hears cases today for the first time since the death of associate justice antonin scalia. the court is now evenly split ideologically among its eight members. president obama plans to nominate a replacement over the objection of republicans who say that job should fall to his successor. patrick: a bald eagle is nursed back to health after being rescued from a fishing net. what she does first after being released.

child porn. federal prosecutors had requested a 12.5 year sentence. the sandwich company cut all its ties with fogle shortly after news of the scandal broke. a judge is set to decide today whether a lawsuit brought by the families in the sandy hook elementary massacre can go forward. adam lanza shot and killed several adults and children in 2012. the victims who survived are suing. the suit is the latest in a 2005 law. since the passage of the protection of lawful commerce in arms act, nearly every such lawsuit against the gunmakers has been dismissed. patrick: carbon monoxide is blamed for the deaths of six people, a couple and their four

a relative discovered the bodies yesterday after not being able to reach the family. the children range in age from two to 11. a generator was running on the lower level of their home, apparently in use after power outages over the weekend. a washington state murder suspect who led police on a wild car chase died in a roadside shootout with officers. more than a dozen police cruisers chased the suspect on interstate 5 south of seattle over the weekend. sheriff's detectives say the man fatally shot his estranged girlfriend at the nursing home where she worked on saturday. the suspect fled and shot at police before he was stopped with spike strips. he then went back and forth in a gun battle with officers and died at the scene. allyson: no way in, and no way out. that's the situation for the roughly 250 people who live in elk city, idaho. officials say a major landslide erupted last week. it left nearly 15 tons of debris like rock and trees on highway 14. the residents of elk city are

people to get to them for now. no word on when the highway will be reopened. however, no injuries have been reported, and authorities say the trapped people are taking it all in stride. patrick: a bald eagle that was nursed back to the big rescued from a fishing net is now back in the wild. crowds gathered in portland, oregon, yesterday to see the female bald eagle off. after being released, she did a little jumping, walking dance , and a little bit of a dance before flying off. the audubon society rescued her from a fishing line last week. the eagle was trying to snag a duck that was caught in the same line when she became tangled herself. when she was finally free, the eagle first landed on top of a nearby hotel, then flew around with her newfound freedom. allyson: there are a whole lot of people hoping they have the potential to go to space. nasa says it received a record 18,300 applications for its astronaut candidate training program. that's nearly three times the
