which of the candidates, whether marco rubio, ted cruz or john kasich, gives up the fight at this point, given how well they've been doing in the second place slot? >> none of them give it up. all of them think that somehow, trump can be eventually stopped when it's one on one. you've got the contest here tomorrow, and then super tuesday a week from tomorrow. i think it's increasingly -- as nicolle said -- increasingly hard to come up with a scenario where any of the three can stop him, unless they get one on one. republicans are talking about unorthodox supporters. maybe try to simply stop trump from getting a majority of the delegates. all three scenarios are, at this point, not just unlikely, but may be improbable, unless something changes. we need to kav yachtcaveat it. maybe trump are will falter or something strange will happen. if you look at political history, trump is in a commanding position. >> mark, does the calendar favor

and the fact they turn to winner takes ss all in a little while? >> winner take off is a way that could hurt trump. say in ohio or florida, home state politician could win a winner take off state and get momentum. trump, both demographically and geographically, doesn't have weaknesses. a guy that can win new hampshire decisively and south carolina decisively tells you a lot of what you need to know. he'll probably win here tomorrow. a northeastern, southern and western powerhouse. it's up to the others candidates to decide, do they all stay in, and how do they explain how they eventually stop him? the voters need to decide this. right now, again, on the current trajectory, trump is strong. >> let's hop over to the democratic side. the clinton campaign said they were relieved they won nevada. a lot of people were looking at how it was going to spin and the story changed because of the result. she did well with african-american voters. that'll be important in south

what's the path forward for sanders? >> i think she made it difficult to imagine a scenario where bernie sanders overtakes her. she's become almost trump-like on the democratic side. the democratic process makes it harder for an upset candidate like bernie sanders. this was a decisive victory for her. she goes to represent much more favorable terrain for her and her message. >> saturday ends up being quite important in this race. good to have you both. thank you so much. >> thanks, guys. also this morning, disturbing new information emerging about the uber driver suspected of killing six people during a weekend shooting ram pain in kalamazoo, michigan. blake mccoy has more on the investigation. good morning. >> good morning from kalamazoo. this is where that driver is expected to be charged later today in the deaths of two people and the injury of two others in the shooting spree. investigators say they have a gun. they have surveillance video.

they still don't know why. >> reporter: this is the man police say went on a rampage in kalamazoo. 45-year-old jason dalton. a husband and father of two, allegedly shooting his victims at random. >> they weren't targeted for any reason other than they were there to be a target. >> reporter: dalton is an uber driver, and police are looking into reports he picked up and dropped off fares in the six hours between the first shooting and when he was caught. one of the passengers spoke with nbc news by telephone. >> i kind of jokingly said to the driver, "you're not the shooter, are you?" he shook his head or said no. got up into the room and they say the news. i said, that's the car that we were in. >> reporter: sububer says they're horrified and heartbroken. they did a background check and record. eight people were shot in three separate shootings. the locations, apartment

the parking lot of a crackerbarrel restaurant. among the dead, four women returning from a play. they had car pooled to save money and were swapping cars when the shots ss rang out. also dead, a father and teenage son who were shopping for a new car. >> you see the stuff on the news all the time. you don't think about it because it doesn't affect you. then this hits not just your community but your friends. >> reporter: loved ones fighting back tears during a sunday night vigil and struggling to make sense of such random violence. >> two survivors are in the hospital. a mother of three shot multiple times is in serious condition. and a 14-year-old girl who was pronounced for more than an hour yesterday, doctors were ss ss were preparing her body for organ donation when she was able to squeeze her mother's hand. doctors realized she was still alive and rushed her into surgery.

you never wrap your head around why that could happen. blake, thank you. for the first time, the director of the fbi is personally weighing in on his agency's fight with apple over unlocking a phone used by one of the san bernardino shooters. pete williams has more on this. good morning. >> good morning, savannah. the fbi director james comey says the investigation of what happened in san bernardino cannot be complete or thorough without getting a look at the phone. in the post overnight on a national security blog, he says, we can't look the survivors in the eye or ourselves in the mirror if we don't follow this lead. the lead is a phone that was owned by syed farook's employer, and that he used, which the fbi found in his mother's car. agents need apple's help to unlock it. apple is resisting, saying the company, if it does what the fbi wants, it would have to create software. if that software gets in the wrong hands, it could jeopardize the security of any iphone in the world.

don't want to break anyone's encryption or set a master key loose on the land. the fbi says there may not be anything of value on that phone, since farook deployed other phones but not that one, and it was owned by the county. tim cook, apple ceo, said this case is about much more than a single phone or a single investigation. he says what's at stake is the data security of hundreds of thousands of law-abiding people, and sets a precedent that threatens everyone's civil liberties. >> stakes high on all sides. pete pete, thank you. a powerful cyclone tore through fiji. authorities are getting a scale of the disaster and to deploy aid to the islands. 6,000 residents were staying in emergency shelters after their homes were destroyed or swamped. winds from the cyclone winston

>> i started researching. i found an industry that was huge but had little innovation in it in recent years. >> reporter: most flower companies, she found, use imported stems. she said no to flowers ships from thousands of miles away. >> the same way that we shouldn't expect to eat a nice, ripe peach in december, we shouldn't expect to get peonys in december either, right? >> we're celebrating the flower while it's in season. our model is, instead of having hundreds of options, we have one daily arrangements. 100% american-grown flowers. >> reporter: growing up in a farm in indiana, she knows first-hand the importance of seasons and supporting local farmers. >> there used to be 150 rose growers and now there are 5 commercial sized ones in the united states. i didn't want it to get to the point where you can't buy a domestic grown flower. >> reporter: she tried to get investors to back her farm to vase idea, but ended up with a string of rejections.

said i should take my husband in with me to pitch, being a solo female founder is difficult. >> reporter: she bootstrapped the startup herself. >> i would get up at 3:30 in the morning and come to the flower mart, load my car with flowers. i'd have to take several trips back and forth. >> reporter: it was a labor of love and blossomed into a business that now ships across the u.s. today, she has close to 50 employees. >> the farm girl team starts their day here at the flower mart. often while it's still dark outside. the flowers are sorted and snipped, carefully arranged and wrapped. the end result, more than 300 bouquets sent daily. >> reporter: they're known for the signature farm girl finish. burrlap sacks, charming and eco-friendly eco-friendly. some flowers are shipped. if they're local, many arrangements arrive by pedal power. >> hi.

chambers from san antonio, texas. >> good morning. >> i love everything about this recipe. >> super simple. >> let's look at the ingredients. >> yes, spicy intalian sausage. i'm from texas and we like things hot. we have the canned tomatoes, salt and pepper, oil. it's like a five-minute meal. >> crowd sausage. you can use any protein. my mom uses shrimp and i sometimes use chicken. whatever you have in the pantry -- or the fridge, not the pantry. you want to refrigerate your meat. >> little bit of oil. >> you can get over here and stir. >> yup. >> basically, we want to make sure it's not pink. as soon as the sausage starts to cook, we'll add the crushed tomatoes.

oregano and garlic if you want. you can let it simmer 5 to 10 minutes. then we'll add the tapers. they add salt, hint of lemon, a thing. tomatoes. >> basically. with crushed tomatoes in a can, you can do anything. it's a base for almost anything. always taste as you go. it's the one thing that people don't do. taste it and see how much salt and pepper. >> speaking of tasting, we have our tasting crew downstairs. >> phenomenal. really good. >> it's the simple things you forget that taste so good. >> i'm glad you like it. salt and pepper. crushed red pepper is nice for extra fire. if you want to go crazy with ingredient ingredients, we'll stick with five. don't go crazy with the crushed red pepper. salt and pepper. then your finished sauce. >> great. >> it's delicious and super easy. i like to add the pasta to the sauce. i'll let you do that. add the pasta. >> throw it right in there?
