charlotte to columbia. the raleigh and durham area will see the heaviest impact today. when you look at just the tornado impact, that hatched area means there is a 10% chance of an ef2 or stronger tornado. you can see some wet conditions there. that area will be watched closely for severe weather. geoff: thank you, chris. we continue to monitor the weather, of course. and so can you. if you have not done so, download our wyff 4 mobile app allyson: new overnight, another victory for donald trump. the gop nevada caucus was held yesterday, but trump wasn't announced the winner until after midnight. it's the third straight nominating contest trump has won. the next test is super tuesday. senators ted cruz and marco rubio are still battling it out for second.

hillary clinton: look, i believe every election or caucus has to be taken seriously. you have to work hard for every vote. that's what i'm going to be doing here in south carolina. i'm taking no vote, no place for granted. so, that is not how i think about it. i think that, you know, we have had three contests. we have about 47 to go. and i'm going to work hard in each and every one of them. bernie sanders: when i began, we were 3% in the polls. and to be honest, most people considered us a fringe campaign, never going to go anyplace. today in the national polls, we have closed the gap to single digits. actually, one poll had us ahead. allyson: clinton continues to campaign in south carolina today with events in west columbia and sumter. sanders heads to missouri and oklahoma. we're six days away from super tuesday. on this day, 12 states, including georgia and one territory, will hold primaries and caucuses in the race for the democratic and republican nomination.

republican primaries are held on the same day. they are alabama, arkansas, colorado, georgia, massachusetts, minnesota, oklahoma, tennessee, texas, vermont and virginia. the republicans only vote in alaska, north dakota, and wyoming caucuses. democrats only in american samoa caucus. president obama has unveiled his long-awaited plan. geoff: it is to close the detention facility at guantanamo bay, cuba. at the facility. some would be shipped to other countries. president obama: a lot of the american public are worried about terrorism, and in their mind, the notion of having terrorists held in the united states rather than in some distant place can be scary. part of my message to the

already holding dangerous terrorists here in the united states. geoff: a hard sell, the president acknowledges but he points to a number of other terrorists currently secured in federal prisons. the plan doesn't specify exactly where in the united states the remaining detainees would go. but south carolina is on the list of potential sites. one of the most vocal against the decision to close gitmo is south carolina senator tim scott. here is the south carolina location where the department of defense is looking to move. theywould move to the naval brig in charleston. its not far from the charleston international airport. it is just off interstate 526. >> if you bring 30 to 60 enemy combatants, the world's worse terrorists, you are putting a target on the back of a community.

here comes a line of thunderstorms. we will be watching that through the morning as well. it is coming down heavily in saluted county. -- heavily in saluda county. here's a quick look at the watches and advisories. flash flood watches continue for today. we have high wind warnings out for western north carolina. we have when did is out for the columbia area as well. here is our future plus computer model. it shows current precipitation and what we are expecting. a good bit of this is pushing through by 8:00 this morning. that tapers off in the late morning. we have a few scattered showers this afternoon. we may not get impacted as badly as originally thought. late tonight we start to see snow developing in the mountains of north carolina, along the tennessee and north carolina border through tomorrow morning. we will be watching those

temperatures are mild in the piedmont area. abbeville and elberton are in the 60's. 59 in greenwood. 48 right now in greenvilil. 47 in boiling springs. 46 in caesar's head. the wind made it feel so much cooler yesterday. it will be a breezy day today too. northeast winds have become more southerly in the wake of this big system. today temperatures will reach low 60's and the upstate and upper 50's to low 60's in the mountains. then, as we look ahead, we clear up for the upstate tomorrow. our high is just 51. the mountains will reach 42. with the low 50's friday and saturday rebounding to low 60's sunday. the mountains will do the same. we have very cold mornings and then temperatures return to

allyson: the storm system coming our way left a lot of damage along the gulf coast. you can see in apartment complex in pensacola the has been ripped apart. three apartment buildings have been damaged. there are reports of a gas leak. everyone was evacuated. search and rescue operations are continuing this morning. geoff: cleanup and recovery efforts are expected to begin in parts of louisiana today. the area was hit hard last night. at least two people were killed in the mobile home park in st. james parish. more than two dozen others were injured. it is believed that more than seven tornadoes swept through the area yesterday. allyson: more severe weather in texas. take a look at the size of this hail. that caused big problems last night when it hit buildings and vehicles. happening today, local quiroz joined forces for the annual

8:00. all kinds of advisories have then issued for the region. continue. this could lead to quick run off prone to it. we have high wind warnings in the mountains of north carolina to transylvania, to haywood county, ananoff to the ewest. we will see very breezy conditions from newberry to columbia. here is our future plus forecast showing the showers. again, most of the heavy stuff is to the south, but we will see action in the upstate between now and 8:00. we have showers and thunderstorms approaching over the next couple hours. as the morning goes on, it trails off and by noon, only a few scattered showers will be left. later tonight, snow comes back to the tennessee and north carolina mountain range.

school delays tomorrow morning. that changes over to rain as it will warm up into the 40's tomorrow. temperatures remained locked in the 40's yesterday. we have upper 40's in the mountains. those will get into the mid-50's. we can see a northeasterly breeze at 10-15 miles per hour this morning. it will get windy or as this big low continues to move off to the east this afternoon and evening. watch out for those winds. they could topple some trees. cold air flows in tonight. that will cool things down and create snow in the mountains. we will reach low 60's this afternoon. then, it starts to drop. the mountains will get into the upper 50's and low 60's before dropping later tonight. we will see snow flurries tonight and the tomorrow, highs just 42-51. sunny weather is back for friday

temperatures warm back up to the low 60's by sunday. the mountains will be chilly saturday, but returned to the upper 50's by sunday. allyson: thank you, dale. last month we showed you a luminary tribute to a young greenville mother named lindsey motley. the hundreds of candles were visible from sky 4 as it flew over her neighborhood. lindsey motley had been battling colon cancer since the age of 26. she told her story publicly and encouraged others to be screened for the disease. she dined late yesterday -- she died late yesterday. she was just 29-years-old. geoff: to oconee county now. where the mayor of seneca says, that memorial cross on city property is not going anywhere. this cross was built into a stone wall outside seneca's water treatment plant. it's in memory of chuck keeler, who fell as he worked on the plant. the freedom from religion foundation out of wisconsin, says the memorial should be religiously neutral. but the mayor disagrees.

appreciate the concern that some may think this display to be an endorsement by a public body of a certain religion, it is my opinion that this memorial and remembrance to life lost is anything but a religious endorsement. geoff: the save tindal park effort has failed. the greenville county school district struck a deal with a developer to sell the 2.8 acre site. the 2.8 acre park has been on the market for about a year. that includes tennis courts, playgrounds, and basketball courts. new focus builders bought the land for a $1.5 million. >> they have proven themselves and the community. we feel like they will do a good job. they are willing. they made it clear to us that they are willing to work with the community. ey want to make the neighborhood happy. geoff: the school district is using the money from the sale to strengthen career centers around the county. they expect the sale to finalize

allyson: hollywild animal park wants to make improvements, but that can't happen without you. following a devastating fire, bad weather, and criticism from peta, the park is at a crossroads. without a commitment from the community, the park, which is a non-profit, could be forced to close. hollywild needs to raise $500,000 in 2016. the park has never done a full-fledged fundraising campaign. what they can and will do depends on you. they are holding a forum to meet with members of the community whwhwant to share suggestions, opinions, or support. that is at the spartanburg area chamber of commerce. the park will also offer an online survey. geoff: pendleton high school held a breakfast to recognize some future farmers. it's all a part of national future farmers of america week. university recruiters were on hand for the celebration. getting into agriculture. they're seeing more and more female students in their programs. increase in female
