over 3400. tom: that is correct. we made great progress overnight. we had a peek number of 120,000 outages and we will check that out to the storm but we knocked overnight. we are down to a total of about 55,000 outages. that is the good news. the relatively small number for the company is biggest duke. the bad news, so many individual bad news, 2600 individual outages, so many are severe outages that will take time to to large trees that are down. it was a wind storm that hit the north and south carolina service territory we have, so that is a bit unusual. normally, we have more localized storms and we can concentrate our cruise, but we will be out at daylight and working as fast as we can to get outages restored and we asked people to be as patient as possible.

as you saw earlier, travel times on the interstate looking pretty good for thursday morning. take a look at i happen to 85 and haywood road. i believe we have tom williams on the phone, he is here to talk about power outages. good morning, tom. tom: good morning, how are you? allyson: i'm doing good. you told us some of these are pretty severe and could take into the weekend. tom: we are hoping that is not the case but it could be the case. there are about 26 hundred individual outages across north and south carolina. a little over 3000 in greenville and spartanburg counties. across south carolina, about 9000 to 10,000 not end in north carolina, about 37,000. we have really knocked these outages down significantly. at the peak of the storm, it was

overnight, we got about 50,000 outages back on so we will be hitting the ground running to get folks back on. allyson: reducing the wind yesterday was the major cause? tom: i think it is a combination of the wind in the wet ground. tremendous trees have been blown down in many neighborhoods, so those things typically take a while to clean it up and they do significant damage and they often take down a series of poles and it takes a while to get back up. also, a lot of backyards outages that may affect one of two different homes. those will be kind of focused on toward the end of the storm, so as a knock down the numbers, we will focus on the smaller outages that duke typically takes longer to fix. good news is we will have more folks out there doing the work. allyson: we want to remind everyone not to approach a downed power line. you can report that to duke energy.
