roughly 18 hours. wyff news 4's corey davis was there when the boy was found. corey: a local fire chief says 12-year-old john quay had to cross through some pretty rough terrain after he got separated from his troop. they say he went through a few creeks that are similar to this one. he even climbed up some rock cliffs, like the one you see here, and also went through some dense forest before crews found him. officials say john was found in a wet long-sleeve shirt and pants, walking along oil camp creek road. our weather team says it was in the upper 20's while john was out there overnight. troop leaders say he was part of a boy scout troop 210, out of powdersville. it was their second time hiking in the state park. john was with six boys and three adults. somehow, he got separated from the group around 4:30 saturday afternoon. troop leaders say the group was going through a challenging part of the 10 mile trail. >> the crew that found him said he just come up and gave them a big hug, like, "thank you." it was pretty overwhelming.

chris: the warmth will last for two more days. today was dry, we started off cool in the 20's but warmed up quickly. we got a 72 degree reading in elberton, 60 one in asheville, 64 in spartanburg. overnight, temperatures will cool down a bit. moz back into the 40's in most locations. tuesday is when things change. 10 degrees warmer now than we were at this time yesterday. the warmth will be felt headed into tomorrow. it will be very nice outside. a view from greenville, you can see, 60 five degrees. a south-southwest wind kicking up the warmth. if you have outdoor plants tonight, clear skies, smooth sailing. the will cool -- we will cool into the 40's. you may want to play cookie tomorrow. it looks good.

guindon. >> prince william county police department is in very deep mourning over the loss of officer ashley guindon last night. our condolences go out to ashley's mother and her extended family, as well as all of her loved ones, throughout this department and beyond. mike: officer guindon was 28 years old. the other two officers who were shot had non-life threatening injuries, though doctors say both officers have a long road ahead. a cruise ship battered by a storm earlier this month had to turn around mid-trip this weekend, because of bad weather, and because of a norovirus outbreak. this is video from february, when the "anthem of the seas" encountered 30-foot waves and hurricane-force winds. on saturday, royal caribbean announced on twitter that, due to a severe storm in the forecast, the ship would return to its home port in new jersey, to give guests a, quote, "comfortable journey back home."

small percentage of passengers had the norovirus. u.s. customs and border protection in georgia recently seized more than 2600 hoverboards at savannah's port. agents say the boards are possibly counterfeit. if they're real, they'd be valued at more than $1 million. agents say the hoverboards posed a safety risk, and used trademark logos without authorization. the first batch arrived here in december from asia. hoverboard fires are causing safety concerns around the country. back in the upstate, a residential care facility is celebrating this weekend, because it is debt-free. yesterday, the rocky river residential care facility held a mortgage burning and debt retirement celebration. the celebration in anderson county and message took place at st. paul baptist church. speakers used the care facility's work to eliminate their debt, to help teach people to get out of debt themselves. also this weekend, astronaut robert "hoot" gibson made a stop in the upstate, to

we caught up with him yesterday at the triple tree aerodrome in woodruff. gibson has been on five space shuttle missions. he was the commander four times. later saturday night, woodruff gave him a key to the city. three production companies will shoot projects, with help from the north carolina film and entertainment grant program. the department of commerce says one of the companies is working on a three-hour televised version of "dirty dancing." it'll be based on the 1987 hit movie filmed at lake lure. production is expected to begin in 60 days. chris: the sun is going down on our wofford skycam, looking over spartanburg. a gorgeous day with sunshine.

you won't need a jacket later in the day with mid-to-upper 60's. in spartanburg, loads of sunshine all day, mid to upper afternoon. 60 by 11:00 in anderson. 67 by 2:00. sunny in asheville, highs topping out around 60 by 2:00. you may see a stray shower with the clouds first thing in the morning, but after that, we will see another nice afternoon. highs tomorrow will be around 67 from abbeville to elberton to greenwood, middle 60's from greenville to spartanburg, mid-to-upper 50's for the north carolina mountains. things change on tuesday. here is the way things look right now. overnight, a weak frontal boundary trying to make it over the mountains with not much energy. it will not do much but give us a few high clouds first thing in the morning. maybe an isolated showers in the higher elevations of the mountains. when the front is just threw by lunchtime, all sunshine, all day.

winds returning. tuesday, a different story. clouds increase from the south. another strong front moves towards the east. the big change compared to last week's system that brought us showers and strong winds come all the energy associated with this system will go well north of here. we will get the tail end of this front overnight tuesday into wednesday, which will give us some pretty good rainfall, but it shouldn't be severe. maybe a gusty wind or two, but through the morning commute on wednesday, we could see showers. after that, we drive back out. 20 of sunshine on monday, 40% chance of rain late on tuesday. morning rain on wednesday, clearing up by the afternoon. it will cool down into the latter half of the work week, with middle 50's on friday into the weekend. in the mountains, friday maybe a little bit of wet snow in the higher elevations. we will watch the track of the low.
