Mary Fineman is an award-winning composer, pianist, singer/songwriter and teacher from Oakland, Ca.Originally from Baltimore, she studied and taught piano at Concordia University in Montreal. For many years she worked as a freelance accompanist for instrumentalists and dancers (and one classical whistler). Her music trajectory changed radically in 2003 after visiting an “energy healer”. She suddenly began hearing her own music and started composing in earnest, creating music that crosses genres - from art song to pop, to Neoclassical works. In 2014, she received a commission from the James Irvine Foundation to orchestrate her song cycle “It’s About Love”, performed by the Oakland Symphony under Maestro Michael Morgan. Mary has performed her work at the Paramount Theater, Piedmont Piano Company, the Marsh Berkeley, Hayward City Hall, Steinway Piano and numerous fundraisers and house concerts. She’s a participant in NACUSASF.org and CCPAS.org, and has had her music featured on wosradio.com She is a proud member of the National League of American Pen Women.
