[music] >> joyce: the title of my message tonight is "trusting god when you don't understand." now we're gonna look at several groups of scriptures tonight that i believe will refresh us in the awesome majesty and greatness of the god that we serve. toward the end of the message, we're even gonna look at a few scriptures that tell us what heaven's gonna be like. and i think sometimes we don't take enough time to look at that stuff enough to really build our faith up in the greatness of god. you know, it's wonderful to talk about how he's our friend and he's our buddy. and he's here with us in everyday life, and we can talk to him about everything and we can have close fellowship. but we have to be very careful that we don't let a spirit of familiarity get on us where all of a sudden now, god is just our friend and our buddy and we forget that he's also awesome and mighty and all powerful and that we're to have reverential fear for god. and we're not to forget that there's nothing tha

jakes, joyce meyer meyer, frederick christ christ, everywhere there is dave meggett church and the local celebrity but the term is controversial they don't want to be called that and that was the way to write the book have with a naturally resist that label? >> i managed to visit one quarter of what i identified as a major church i interviewed someone representing the ministry in which to every major conference i was pushed up against the glass to see what is going on. >> host: what did you hear or what was the message that they were preaching? >> said it was not so much about money surely this is the gospel about money but people did not talk about it as much as i expected with that excitement that every special detail was give been god's attention but the budget and the family is the happiness and promotions were worthy of spiritual attention. >> host: what does that have to do with prosperity? >> they call it whole life. in theological terms we would say that we see more of the presence of the kingdom of god here on earth but questions think most of the good stuff happens after we die

[music] >> joyce: there's two kinds of people in the world. there's people who do things on purpose and there's people that are passive. now passive people are people who want something good to happen, but they're not gonna really do too much, if anything, to make it happen. they have a lot of wishbone, but no backbone. and then there's people who read the word, they know what's right, and they purpose with god's help, which we can't do anything apart from god. let's establish that first. but here's the other thing we have to remember, is anything that god asks us to do, he gives us the ability to do. anything that you feel that god is leading you to do, god gives you the ability to do that. all we need to do is just keep leaning on him. "god, i need you, i need you. i can't do anything without you." give him the praise, give him the glory, and you'll keep that flow of power coming into your life all the time. and so i decided that i would talk about attitude. last night, we talked a
