israel rind, owner of izzy's brooklyn bagels says he's noticed cisitors struggling with the new sidewalksr his store. sot- "not fall, acutally didnt see anybody, but people did trip." these tiny shards of glass embedded in this cement, are part of the 7-million dollar california avenue streetscape redevelopment project. the glass is meant to be decorative and was recently paved into the cement on various sidewalks along the street. but in some cases, the glass is getting loose and the city has taken notice. sot- "we've come out here a couple of different times looked at, um, and we're going to ask the contractor to redo those areas where the glass was not poured correctly." city spokesperson claudia keith says the repairs will not cost palo alto any additional money. sot- "it's the contractor's responsiblity to ensure the quality of the work, so they'll be working with the subcontracotr whose responsible for the glass and the cement and the sidewalk pouring." good news for israel rind, who says sales have dipped during contruction, but appreciates the city's response to the problem. sot-
