and here in the bay area today, in daley city, people turned out to show support for the asian community just 24 hours after video of an attack there surfaced and members of the community and city leaders gathered in front of city hall and the showed solidarity and support for not only the victims killed in georgia this week and the victims of crime in the bay area and beyond. many seld signs saying asian lives matter calling for an end to hate this comes after the most recent attack yesterday. a man runs up to a 69-year-old woman takes her bag while shoving her to the ground. it happened about a mile from the shopping center near serra vista and norwood avenues and the mayor called today's event a safe place for everyone to heal together and called on people of all races to unite. >> we're sending a strong message to the community that we need to unite as asian-americans, as people of color, as everyone together because the hate that is happening to asian women to asian elderly people needs to stop. >> the mayor points out more than half of the population of daley city is of asian desce

our chopper was on the scene in daley still city throughout the afternoon. a doctor alerted police that he saw a gunman and heard a loud bang. this is a very busy area. a lot of medical buildings and a shopping center across the industry. cheryl hurd is in daley city. >> reporter: police are still here, as you can see, but the area near highway 280 on south gate avenue is slowly getting back to normal. the street is now open now. earlier this afternoon it was quite a different story here. that's when a doctor reported seeing a man in his 60s with a gun. police were called in just before 1:30 this afternoon. police say a doctor reported he saw a man with a gun inside the medical facility on south gate avenue. >> we believe there's a suspect carrying a gun. we have not located this person to establish whether it was a gun or not. we are interested in locating this person obviously and want to make sure he's not in the neighborhood, and we won't be leaving the scene anytime soon. >> reporter: because the doctor believed he saw something and heard something like
