quite honestly, we considered a model airplane the rubber band powered aircraft. and interesting story, the wright brothers actually accredit their interest in aviation into a toy that was given to them as a child from their dad. it was a rudimentary rubber band-powered helicopter that had a stick with a rotor on one end, attached to a rubber band and stabilizer fin on the other end. and as they flew that aircraft and started studying, if you would, from just a layman standpoint, aeronautics, redesigned it, and came up with several different designs. and from that day forward, model aircraft have been integral into the development and the new technologies for aeronautics and for aerospace sciences. the wright brothers actually used models to test their wing designs for their first gliders. and as late as the space shuttle incidents, the means by which they transport from cape kennedy -- the kennedy space center to edwards air force base was solved using a model airplane. you guys have all seen the pictures of the space shuttle on the back of a 747 in that transport
