aaron hearn now finally back home. today he's celebrating his 12th birthday. happy birthday, my man. "today in the bay's" christie smith has more on the story. >> reporter: there are so many people here in martinez following aaron hearn's progress, wishing him well, a number of restaurants and businesses held fund-raisers for the family during this ordeal. as you said, he did make it home just in time for his 12th birthday which is today. there is a note on the family door this morning to their home telling the media that he's doing well. they're trying to find peaceful family time and they plan to speak with the media on thursday afternoon. respecting their privacy and staying back just a little bit this morning. there's also a welcome home sign on the garage door this morning. it looks like it was signed by a number of his friends. hearn was hit by a piece of shrapnel in the boston marathon bombing and had two surgeries on his leg, even visiting the site of the bombing before coming back home to the bay area. he was there with his family to watch his mom kat
