aaron burr would have been executed if he was convicted.was a huge trial at the federal court in richmond, virginia. that was 1807. 60 years after that, 1867, that same federal court in richmond came up with another trial that was just as spectacular. it was the arraignment of the former president of the confederate states of america. jefferson davis. they first tried to pin the assassination of president lincoln on him but they settled for trying him for treason. the initial imprisonment and arraignment of jefferson davis on treason charges took place in richmond, virginia, and the jury in that trial was the very first racially integrated jury in virginia history. look at that. seven black men and five white men. the first integrated jury in virginia. ultimately that integrated jury never had to reach a verdict because the charges against jefferson davis were dropped. the federal court in richmond, virginia, has seen its share of drama, right? of high-stakes, hive profile proceedings involving very high-profile politicians. but today, the

susan, what about this civil lawsuit involving aaron hernandez's assets? >> i was going to say just a quick footnote to what darren was just saying, that if the -- if they go for a diminished capacity defense, they would also be asking the court to lower the charge from first degree murder to something lesser than that. second degree, manslaughter, that's a possibility, as well. >> manslaughter. >> exactly. thank you. so now moving on to the civil suits going on, currently two civil lawsuits by two different families. the family of victim oden lloyd, the first murder trial to come up. and also the family of the victims of the double murder. and both now have been able to place through the courts attachments on aaron hernandez's home. that means if he wanted to sell that home, maybe needed additional money to pay -- he can't do it. there is a freeze on it right now until these trials are over. that's what the civil suit, the families were going for and that's what they got in court. >> okay. susan candiotti, darren kavinoky, thank you very much on this late
