good evening, everyone, i'm aaron gilchrist. the man is accused of sexually assaulting two women within hours of each other. the first attack happened in magnolia lane. less than two hours away, another attack near a busy shopping center. darcy spencer hans tonight's top story. >> this police impersonator approached a 17-year-old girl as she was entering her home. fortunately, the victims were able to provide enough descriptive information so police have a composite sketch. police say the man depicted in this composite sketch fondled the teenager as he pretended to search her. he identified himself as being in law enforcement and flashed a badge. it was 3:45 in the afternoon on tuesday. >> we want to make sure if someone's preitending to be law enforcement and they're not, that they are caught. >> reporter: this time the victim was forced into the suspect's car. that attack at 7:00 in the evening at the herndon shopping center. the victim in her mid-20s. the man drove her to a nearby parking lot, where he sexually assaulted her.

aaron gilchrist has more. >> reporter: it was hard to smile through this one.our best friend's wedding and go upstairs to listen to the i dos. downstairs someone is taking what they want. >> it is alarming to think that while we were upstairs, someone was downstairs you know committing a horrible crime. >> reporter: a woman is afraid to be identified worried a thief will figure out where she lives now that her license is missing. she was part of a bridal party on saturday afternoon. they got there just enough time to put their purses in a holding room. >> it was a podium against the wall and tucked our pourss in there and turned it back against the wall so no one could see it. no one was down there with us. >> reporter: 30 minutes later they were stunned to learn that no one could find their four small purses. >> the church ladies ran up to us happy to see us saying do you have your pours beers? we were like no. >> one of the victims had a iphone if her purse and tracked it to this intersection. police didn't use that tracker. and the phone eventually died. gon

aaron gilchrist joins us live from the intersection. how did this happen? >> reporter: that is a really good question right now. this is bizarre. the police are investing this. let me show you what we have seen. if you look into the canal you see the piece of white metal in the water near the bridge? that we believe is the back of a truck that went into the canal around 9:00 this evening. how it got there we don't know. there is a road there, a dirt path if you will. i think that is the capital crescent trail which starts down in georgetown. we are at fox hall and canal road. so it seems as though the vehicle may have entered somewhere down near georgetown and come down the road through the water here and back on to the road and somehow ended up in the water. look at video that we shot earlier. this is the gentleman we believe who was driving this truck being questioned by the park police trying to figure out what happened here and how that truck ended up in the water. while that investigation is happening no one was seriously hurt. we got that from the par

i'm aaron gilchrist. the most recent abduction happened yesterday afternoon. a 21-year-old woman says he ran from a car full of men. it is the latest in a string of disturbing reports, all from spotsylvania county. darcy spencer live in the newsroom. >> news 4 spoke briefly to this latest victim of this attempted abduction today. she's 20 years old and says she's still very shaken up. police say a man in a car tried to lure her inside, in light of these incidents, halloween will mean an even bigger police presence. authorities in spotsylvania county are investigating a third attempted abduction within a little more than two weeks. the latest incident happened on saturday, just before 3:30 in the afternoon. the victim, a 20-year-old woman, was walking here on ennis brooke circle in the governor's green subdivision. she tells police a honda four-door car pulled up, someone opened the rear passenger door and told her, "let's go." that's when she ran away. neighbors there are on edge. >> we're talking to the neighbors and just making them aware if they haven't bee

i'm aaron gilchrist. we begin with new twodevelopmen on that devastating earthquake in turkey. the death toll from that 7.2 magnitude tremor stands at 88 right now, but experts believe many more people are dead. the worst damage was done in two eastern towns in turkey. dozens of buildings collapsed, leaving survivors searching for people trapped under that debris. there have been -- there have been close to two dozen aftershocks, the largest measured at 6.0. nbc's annabel roberts has the latest. >> the earthquake hit in the far eastern province of vann, and the magnitude was about 7.2, which is pretty strong. turkey does have a history of earthquakes and they have engineers who are highly qualified and specialized in designing buildings to resist earthquakes, but is never really sure quite how closely these guidelines are followed. looking at the pictures, you can see there is a high degree of destruction. there are estimates that about 40 or 50 buildings are down in the city of vann and that there are people trapped beneath the rubble. and you can see people digging through th
