[applause] >> this group that's sitting here today sort of does represent a neighborhood inside of a village, the village of san francisco. and two neighborhood associations, a waterfront advisory group, and partners with the city, with the mayor's office of housing and jayesco have really made this happen during the development period. i know that john stewart is going to comment on some of this, but i know there are 26 neighborhood meet -- there were 26 neighborhood meetings that made this happen, and i want to do a special shoutout to john stewart who lives in this neighb

we know that aaron peskin was very outspoken against rose pak in 2011. by that time, he has already changed his position from the board of supervisors. he was able to speak his mind. according to the examiner, peskin has committed -- submitted a 305 page letter to the -- a 305 -- a 305 page letter. rose pak was closely submitted to the group. >> i will play a video. your time is running. >> yeah, i know. is it connecting? >> sir, your time is running. >> i'm not sure where the audio is. >> next speaker, please. all right, welcome. you have a minute. >> okay. my name is jesse. isn't it interesting that supervisor peskin had the knowledge that rose pak was with the people's republic of china representative in san francisco? it might be hard for you to digest it, but many forces have pointed to that. according to the article published on foreign-policy, rose pak has a very specific and demonstrable ties to the chinese government. she was an overseas executive director with the exchange association. it is a foreign affair organization under the direction of

and one of the things that strikes me about it, aaron peskin, i think really made a statement because he was boots on the ground, went to every meeting, very supportive of that project as he was then and he is now. it's my pleasure to introduce the supervisor. [applause] >> supervisor peskin: mayor breed, ms. parker, mr. stewart, to your respective organization, but most importantly to the community and amongst those and first and foremost amongst those, the barbary coast neighbors. it is true almost 20 years ago that i attended all of those meetings at north beach place, but thankfully, i attended few if any in this particular project. but mr. cantor did, miss taylor did, and i want to say they made it a better project. this neighborhood involvement made this a better project. let me say a few words about what my mayor said, and it is the history of the embarcadero freeway which was, by all accounts, a terrible urban planning mistake. and then, in 1989, after the loma prieta earthquake, we had a mayor who had the courage to rip that thing down. and by the time then-state senator quen

supervisor aaron peskin working on this. these cameras are intended to create a safe and inviting experience for the community merchants and visitors, and the project has been in the work for the past few weeks, and these cameras are finally operational. and follows a number of crime incidences in chinatown just last month. a man named ucsf benioff children's hospital was walking in the neighborhood when he said the men came up from behind him, grabbed him by the arms, assaulted him, and stole his watch. he ended up in the hospital with a fractured cheekbone and bruises to the back of his head. we spoke to a woman this morning who said she remembers that attack and welcomes these new cameras. >> the storekeepers, you know, there is nothing they can do, you know? they just have to watch the whole thing. i know there safety concerns about privacy, but then, you know, when all of our information about the things he purchased and where we are, it's all online, so i really don't see it as a bad thing. >> reporter: six days after

commission and i are very proud, mayor breed was out the groundbreaking along with supervisor aaron peskin and the developer jon stewart and company. we are just very proud that we can be part of solving the affordable housing crisis in the city. it was really the community who came to us many years ago now to say that they felt that our under lot - underutilized seawall lots would be a good opportunity for housing. and then we began to work with the state legislature which in the tradition of delancey street allowed us to provide our surplus poverty for housing. we are very proud of the groundbreaking today and congratulations to everyone who was involved in that project. that concludes my report. >> any public comment on the executive director's report. i would just like to add june 18 through twentieth, the american association of port authority have their seminar for port governing boards. i attended. i was happy that san francisco could host the repair. there were probably 85 commissioners on their significant others. most of them came to san francisco days before the event and stayed
