i'm here with supervisors kathrin stefani and supervisor aaron peskin, as well as the director of the department of public health, dr. grant colfax, department of emergency management mary ellen carroll, department of human resources trent rohrer, as well as police chief bill scott. as of today in san francisco, we have 131 confirmed cases, and we are doing everything we can to provide that update on a regular basis. i'm really proud of the work that the department of public health has been doing to make sure that our hospitals have the capacity and the support that they need to help people who potentially need hospitalization during the coronavirus pandemic. just this past weekend, we were able to hire 82 nurses. since we issued the directive, we were able to move forward rapidly, and so i'm grateful to those who hosted the job fair and worked to make this happen as quickly as possible. we also have an update on our p.p.e., which we hear a lot of conversations about. and i want to be clear, this is a problem all over the country. there have been real challenges for hospitals everywhe
