we turn to governor abbott's update. a lot of information has come directly from the governor's office. the police briefing was short and a status update, saying they'll bring more information as they go, the grim coverage. according to the local police, they were still trying to get in touch with all parents. they're still dealing with that aspect of this unfolding breaking news tragedy, the shooter killing 14 elementary school students and a teacher. >> swift action being taken by local law enforcement as well as the texas department of public safety. they obviously now know who the shooter was. he's no longer alive. two responding officers were struck by rounds but have no serious injuries. >> that's on the authorities' response side of it. again, governor abbott giving that major briefing. the authorities on the local police side provided a small amount of information. we have a little clip from that. >> families are being notified and we're providing services to them. we do want to keep all the families in our praye
