lopez abc news. the us supreme court has made it easier for anyone in the country to carry concealed weapons, but a new bill in california. aims to change that. abc 7 news reporter stephanie sierra explains how the process could become more restrictive and costly for taxpayers. under state law it is a crime to carry a concealed firearm without a valid license, california is among a half dozen states that no longer require people to show good cause in order to qualify for a license to carry a concealed weapon often as a ccw. the impact is especially hitting the bay area as several. that whereley issued these licenses will legally have to as long as the applicant meets criteria like good moral character via resident of the county and completes a course of training. we've been bombarded for years for being very conservative about our ccw program. i think now our hands are a little bit tied since the supreme court ruling demand for these licenses is spiking an alameda county lieutenant ray kelly expects.

tim johns, abc 7 news.: the state's programs protecting tenants who couldn't pay rent from eviction during the pandemic, well it's now closed to new applicants. but thousands of existing applicants still have application -- applications still haven't been processed, either approved or denied. the nonprofits behind the lawsuit which was filed in alameda county say virtually no applications were denied up until the deadline. but now, about one in three have been rejected. the judge's ruling says the state's department of housing and community development may be violating constitutional rights because it's not giving people adequate information about why they were denied. the ruling now gives denied applicants more time to appeal and prevent any more applications from being denied until the state's process is reviewed. and that may be good news for renters, but what about homeowners? a new read fin report shows the housing market in northern california is dropping faster than anywhere else in the country. thre

this is abc 7. housing the homeless tonight we look at what is working more than 1,000 people have been able to find housing in san francisco's tenderloin since the mayor declared an emergency initiative seven months ago, but just how hard is it to house homeless people tonight? we continue our series 50 blocks on the challenges the city faces to clean up the area. here our role as the department of homelessness and supportive housing really is to engage people on the street and to help to get them into housing whether it's shelter permanent supportive housing. we have about 9,000 units in permanent supportive housing. we serve about 10,000 people. in those units there's a high concentration of units in the tenderloin south of market in the mission because that tends to be where the sro stock is sros are really unique to san francisco. sro is redesigned often for middle class people and the tendo and they're all built from 1907 to 1930. they were built many of them one bathroom for 10 residents and
