abc 7 news reporter melanie woodrow followed up with the victim's family to get their reaction to the suspect's arrest. >> but first, let's hear from abc 7 reporter vic lee about the suspect's history and his long criminal record. >> well, dan, of course we don't know anything about his juvenile record, but it is clear from his adult criminal record that he's been in and out of trouble since he was 18. john lee coko cowell just 27 ye old. when he was 18 his record included misdemeanor drug offenses, obstruction of a peace officer and assault. on the assault charge, cowell was convicted and released on probation. when he was 22, cowell was convicted of battery. two years later in 2015, another conviction for using drugs. then in 2016, more misdemeanor charges. this time at the contra costa county. cowell was caught shoplifting and carrying drug paraphernalia. contra costa d.a. spokesman scott alonzo says police also found him with this. >> i believe he had a tear gas canister. so a wide variety of charges in that one, all misdemeanors. >> in may 2016, cowell's most serious crime back t

sanctuary. >>> the family of the man killed friday at a daly city construction site is talking to abc 7 news they're coping with the tragedy. relatives have identified the victim as 34-year-old abel saucedo quinonez. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo has our story. >> reporter: the death of a daly city construction worker is being felt far beyond the job site. family members say abel sauceda quinonez was a dedicated father of four, a devoted husband and a devout family man. >> right now everyone's just in shock. no one believes it. >> reporter: nitzia sauceda is the victim's niece. she says her uncle worked construction nearly a year. friday was the first time he reported to 1 martin street in daly city. abel and another man were working on a 24-inch concrete storm drain pipe for a new housing development friday morning when a 12-foot-deep trench gave way. abel didn't make it out, and work to recover his body went on for more than 12 hours. after combing through that dirt and debris rescue crews were finally able to locate and recover abel's body. you can see the aftermath of that reco

abc news reporter elizabeth hur is in new york live with the latest. >> kristen and larry, authorities they want to muir the boys are fit and ready to get out of the cave and that is still not the case. as you mentioned with news of more rain on the way, they're focusing on preventing more flooding. in thailand, the pressure mounting. the race is on for rescuers to stay ahead of mother nature. delivering air tanks, wet suits and life jackets to the soccer team before the monsoon rains move in. inside, divers are putting in ropes for the boys as a guide through the cave. outside, experts are training new divers, building dams and running pumps day and night. and on thursday, the thai navy seals releasing new pictures showing crews making progress and how much of the water has been drained. but as of now, there's still no clear plan for getting the boys out. officials say the boys have been practicing breathing with diving masks but have not yet been trained to do so in the water. >> if you don't know how to swim is you're in a very black environment, it's not a good environment to learn
