an update for you later on on the news at six live in pacifica tonight i'm dion lim, abc seven news. >> okay, dion thank you. now to the east bay hills. the high winds and rising creek levels are the big concerns there. abc seven news reporter leslie brinkley is live in orinda tonight and she joins us there. hi, leslie. >> hi. it's been a challenging afternoon. one minute it's not raining too badly. the next, i mean, buckets coming down and you can see the runoff right behind me. we're right by downtown orinda. and this is a storm runoff channel. the water is pouring off these steep hillsides and into this channel. local residents here have told us as they've come by, they've never seen it like this. so it's been a rough afternoon out here in the east bay. the rain made driving treacherous on highway 24 for the afternoon commute. many drivers pulled off the road to brave the torrential bands of rain. a spinout on interstate 680 northbound sent one person to the hospital as a driver lost control on the wet pavement, smashing into a minivan. public works crews fanned out across the east

new maps later this year. in the east bay, i'm leslie brinkley, abc seven news. >> coming up, it was another beautiful day around bay area. look at this shot outside after the break. we're going to have abc seven news meteorologist sandhya patel with us sonoma coast is finally being removed this week. it's been near salmon creek beach since september of 2016. that's north of bodega bay. debris has been getting in the water for years, ranging from plastics to other items that could be extremely harmful to animals. the national oceanic and atmospheric administration is helping with this cleanup. >> so there's the obvious risk to wildlife ingesting materials. there's pollution on board, like petroleum products and other hazardous materials, and those can affect water quality, but also marine life, especially young juvenile marine life or larval stage marine life. they're really highly sensitive to toxicity in the water. >> government funding is helping to pay for that removal. >> all right. well, let's talk about this spectacular weather forecast. a little foggy in the beginning, but turned out to be a beautiful da

zach fuentes, abc seven news. >> zach, thanks very much. today, the presidio trust pushed back at the president. trump issued an executive order last week, as we reported, to eliminate the federal agency that operates that national park. abc seven news political reporter monica madden is here. and monica, it seems like it always all comes down to money, but in this case, is that really true? >> well, it could come down to efficiency of money. dan, according to the presidio trust, it broke records last year with $182 million in revenue for 2024. and since it stopped receiving money from congress in 2013, it has generated more than 350 million in net operating income. now, unlike other national parks, the presidio is financially independent. primarily, primarily, the presidio earns money by restoring and renting out historic military buildings to businesses and residents. recently, the trust received a $200 million federal grant to help with upkeep and maintenance. and on top of that, the agency said it has raised $750 million in private fundi

abc seven news. >> all right, luce, thank you. police are back out at a home in antioch today after finding four children living in terrible conditions. they first visited the home yesterday after someone reported a two year old alone outside. inside the house, officers found three other children, all ages eight and under and no adults. police say the kids appeared to need medical attention and were taken to hospitals, then were placed in the custody of child and family services. the mother was arrested on child abuse charges when she got back to the house. a hazmat team has deemed the house uninhabitable. >> as the city of oakland faces a budget deficit of $129 million this year. an audit has found more than a million and a half dollars in overpaid overtime pay. an audit found that hundreds of employees at the departments of transportation and public works were paid more than more in overtime than what is federally required. that money paid out over the last six years, but the problem could be bigge
