the dubuque arts council hired a professional abraham lincoln impersonator to talk with area students. danny russel's focuis on literacy and inspiring students to become better readers. . this week and next, he'll be appearing at elementary schools all over dubuque county. today at lincoln elementary, he met with students who've a studied lincoln's life and legacy. russel says lincoln's story is one of perseverance, since the 16th president failed at several careers before succeeding as a lawyer and politician. "although his parents were illiterate,he got himself f t of poverty, taught himself to read. he said, 'books got me off the farm, got me to be a prairie lawyer and got me to the white house.'
