city. another project that was funded which was also amazing was the language axis project. as you know there was a language access ordinance passed requiring city agencies to provide language access to very diverse, often monolingual residents. it was not executed well. the resources were not there and often times the staff that was hired, the capacity was for one language. someone in the back office it really didn't have customer service as part of their job. and so because we got funding last year we are piloting community partnerships and it wasn't enough. our ask was 2 million dollars and we would like to see 500,000 dollars more this year to ensure that access to every one of the residence is made possible. we thank mayor and senior staff that came out to china town, it was remarkable. they visited an sro, people living in 6x10 rooms, this was a good one, this is run by a partner agency of the chinatown community development center. that was an eye-opener i think for your staff as they saw single residence in a well-run sro, 6x10, living in those conditions but what they didn't see where the private ones, wh

the younger youth was recruited by city college and that's how they accessed those jobs and again because this was a public system it was available for young people city wide so they didn't have to go through those points. i can apply to the system directly. this was the neighborhoods that we served from the southeast sector but we reached the young people out in every district. so what's next for 2013. last year was our initial launch and launched by the mayor. we got running quickly. we partnered with united way the bay area to implement the summer job initiatives, this year the mayor wants to make this a year round effort and dcyf provided funding for -- put out a request to help manage our summer job and reach out to the private sector year round. the mayor this year based on the success of last year raised the bar for all of us, so he wants to see 6,000 opportunities for those 16 to 14. and that goes out to the private sector. we build on the success that we had last summer and partnership with oedwe. the mayor held a job challenge on april 30th. and i'll talk about what came out of

this is actually seen as a strong provider in working with the youth to look at the access to the city's one stop system and then most recently we launched our school-based initiative with the san francisco unified school district which we have supported completely with private funding that has been happening for two and a half years and then i would just say, to give you a sense of the very large number of requests that we get into lyric and literally every day. and from various city bodies and other cvos asking for our support and we see the need and a lot of folks who are really reaching out and wanting to become more culturally competent in supporting lgbtq youth. i actually have about 7 recommendations that i feel have been gleaned from lessons learned over the years, some of them have been touched upon certainly mandatory data collection for all city departments and agencies is critical. we know from sfusd, we have learned quite a bit. i think that also, the idea of quality standards lyric is actually designed quality standards, that we would love to share, and use as kind of a beg
