congratulations to the aclu. just secured rights that are already guaranteed to journalists under the first amendment. don't get me wrong. i'm deeply grateful to organizations like the aclu and others holding accountable those who ignore the constitution and deprive others of their freedoms. but why the hell do we need a lawsuit and an agreement to under score what the constitution makes very clear. it should never have come to this. this agreement needs to be sent as a warning to police everywhere in the country, freedom of the press is to freedom to bear witness on your behalf, shine a light on and record and report and do so safely on your behalf. i suppose this agreement should be breaking news in 1791. before we had the first amendment. it is not breaking news today. i just hope we get to a place where police understand that we want to live in a country where the police simply don't attack journalists or prevent them from doing their work. we'd like a country in which the police value this important part of
