we begin, jim acosta at the white house for us for their response to this news. but shimon, you first, sir, in washington, on some of the details of this. and what do we know? what did general flynn lie about specifically? >> so in principle the lie sen ter centered around the conversation he had with kislyak. they confronted him at the white house and asked the former security adviser about his conversation about the russian ambassador. and quite frankly and just plainly he lied about it. he lied to fbi investigators about the nature of the conversation, some of the details of that conversation, and there were two specific conversations or two topics, i should say, that he lied about. one had to do with russian sanctions, u.s. sanctions against russia. and the second we found out today in court papers had to do with a united nations security council vote against israel settlements. he, flynn, was calling various countries including russia. fbi asked him questions about some of that conversation. those conversations. and he lied about those as well to the fbi. so

let's go to our senior white house correspondent jim acosta. jim, tell us more about what the president has had to say. >> reporter: wolf, that's right. president trump is slamming the fbi again, describing the bureau's actions as disgraceful and denying any collusion with the russians during the 2016 campaign. the president also appeared to open the door to pardoning his former national security adviser michael flynn earlier today before the white house seemed to shut that down. the president is ratcheting up his attacks on the investigators who are investigating the white house and trump campaign officials under scrutiny in the russia probe. >> well, it's a shame what's happened with the fbi, but we're going to rebuild the fbi. it will be bigger and better than ever. >> reporter: mr. trump seized on recent revelations that an fbi agent was removed from special counsel robert mueller's team after sending texts that were critical of the president. >> it is very sad when you look at those documents and how they've done that is really, really dis

cnn's jim acosta at the white house tonight. he joins us now. jim, it was absolutely unequivocally a banner day for the president. he got what he wanted here. do we know when the bill will actually arrive on his desk for him to sign? >> reporter: well, there are a couple of factors there, john. one is we do think the president wants to sign it by the end of the week. i just talked to an official here and the hope is that he'll do it bit end of the week but it may have to wait until after the new year. there are some arcane legislative rules that say if the president signs before the end of the year, that may trigger some spending cuts they don't want here at the white house or up on capitol hill. so that's something that they have to sort through. some depends on if they can get a government spending bill through. even though the president and republicans sounded jubilant today, if you listened to the president at times, it sounded as if he was not talking about repealing obamacare but just repealing obama because so many things they had wrapped

. >> if i could ask you, jim acosta, white house official telling jim acosta tonight that a pardon for flynn is definitely not on the cards for now, but the fact is of course that could change over time. legally could the president? does he have the prerogative to pardon a michael flynn, for instance? >> right, it is certainly an interesting question. the president has very wide-ranging pardon power. so the president probably could pardon flynn. it is interesting sort of how robert mueller has played this, right. certainly there was a proffer agreement in which he explains, you know, lots -- michael flynn explained lots and lots of facts. now he's pled guilty. imagine the president pardons him. mueller's team could still hold him to the agreement. if he has been pardoned he no longer has a fifth amendment right to not talk. if he pardons flynn, he could still use the sworn grand jury or proffered testimony to get him to testify against all of the facts he has already revealed. this is sort of an interesting and pretty clever position they've now put flynn in the larger trump -- >> so t

let's bring in our senior white house correspondent jim acosta. also from capitol hill phil mattingly. jim, first to you, what's the reaction. so far you're hearing the president clearly was very, very thrilled by this development. >> that's right. the president was touting this victory earlier this morning at the white house meeting with his cabinet. this is now a signature legislative achievement for president trump, no question about it. but instead of selling this policy before passing it, they passed it and now they'll have to sell it and that's what you heard from the house speaker on the morning talk shows and that's where what you heard from the president this morning with his cabinet. here's what he had to say about this tax cut package being passed. >> the passage of the massive tax cuts and reform. there's a lot of reform in there but the tax cuts supersede and i said very specifically "use the word tax cuts." for 34 years they've been trying to do this and they haven't and they used the word "reform." well there is reform but i said we

we're joined by our senior white house correspondent, jim acosta. jim, some of the president's accusers, they're speaking out once again. >> reporter: that's right, wolf. and the white house is once again denying allegations from roughly a dozen women who have accused president trump of sexual misconduct. they want a congressional investigation into all of this. the timing is not ideal for the president, whose accusers have come forward just as mr. trump is throwing his support behind an accused child molester, roy moore, in the alabama senate race. for the white house, the questions aren't going away. even if the answers remain the same. >> the president has addressed these accusations directly and denied all of these allegations. >> reporter: women who accuse president trump of harassment and even assault are telling their stories once again to join the me too movement that i shining a bright light on the issue of sexual abuse in the u.s. >> this was serial misconduct and perversion on the part of mr. trump. unfortunately, this behavior isn't rare
