under the ada public entities must maintain in working orders equipment and features of facility that are required to be ready access for people with disabilities. however temporary interruptions to access of maintenance in the future is not prohibited. in these cases work orders had been issued and prioritized. in addition alternate arrangements for structures. for instance when the elevators are down in the parking garage staff to alternate spaces to guide people to the ground level that are designated and held open to help patrons to access. also when elevators go out of service at a family shelter, it's the policy of staff to provide people with disabilities. in some case staff offers to relocate clients to another location, if this is not possible, they do deliveries and offer any additional items. the second category of complaints involved obstructions to the public right-of-way and blocks to construction activity. in these cases office collaborated with dpw or sf mta street inspector to investigate and revolve the issue immediately. this is a reminder to the public, if you noti

when he started working in the ada transition plan, we were in the early days, the infancy and we needed his guidance and focus to not only be able to develop the plan but advocate for the money and work with the managers and designers and the contractors and the department heads all of the different people that are involved in bringing these projects forward. it was really under his leadership that the city was able to start making progress. when you look at his accomplishments over that ten 10-year period, there were over 100 projects valued now at $46 million that john has had that foot print. you can do that at the city service centers and the san francisco general hospital, he has literally touched them all and he's made such an incredible difference. when we think about his advocacy, we all had to really appreciate just him as a person, as a loving person as a supportive person, as a person who always organized the mayor's office on disability special events really brought that heart to anything that we did and in fact in his performance plans every year, party planning was always

they are not part of the civil rights or equal rights clause that are under the ada. so as a person with a disability, all you require to qualify for equal treatment and reasonable accommodations in the workplace is to have a form, any form of visible or invisible physical or mental impairment that impacts a person's life activities. that is how you are defined as a person with a disability. it doesn't matter how that irritability or if it's war related. ptsd, civilian related exposure to violence or mental helthsdz health -- and neurological order, what they need to do is provide that level of civil rights to the client. the term disability gets misrepresented and miss quoted a lot, right. we as a society have an image of what a disability is and a stigma of what disabled people can and cannot do, but in terms of employment. we are not talking about special privileges, we are talking about a right to accommodations. like a disability. that is true, simply because you meet the definition of a disability. now, if we are talking about much -- money and services, those a

when you look at what that translates to in terms of access for ada compliance, we have several differentdologies that we use. something is what we call mini highs, which are basically fixed ramps that are at some of the stations. that anyone in a wheelchair that needs to board that way goes up the ramp to the higher level and helped by the conductor to go ahead and bridge the gap and get on to the train. the second one shows an on-board lift in part of our fleet. and then the third one, the picture at the bottom, is basically a shot that shows what we have for backup lift capacity, which is a manual list at the station platforms. in case we have a failure of the other devices. one of the things that casey talked about is the different tenants that we have on the railroad and each one of those different tenants has a different type of equipment that is utilized with different boarding height above top of rail. we have ace that utilized two stations and capitol corridor using two and am track with one station at the southern end of the alignment and we have to make sure it also accommodate
